Chapter 339: It Can’t Be

Humans outgrew them, but now with this new evolution, they returned, stronger, bigger, and more savage than before.

Those living in rural areas or exploring forests and mountains before the mana blanket that engulfed the world in darkness were in danger zones as their summons might not be enough to support them.

All these were details she got online and were confirmed by her parents, but today her concern was different, as the family discussed something sensitive this morning.

Aurelia looked at where her brother usually sat with pursed lips. Her mother saw her and turned to her husband.

The man sighed. "We’re looking for him. I know he can’t kill the Pendragon Heiress. Adonis may be too stubborn for his own good, but he won’t kill someone. That’s not the son I raised. I’ve been sending mails to Mr. Arthur and once he approves, I’ll be able to meet him."

He faced his daughter. "He’ll be back soon."

Aurelia nodded.

"He might be extremely disobedient, but he’s my son," her father muttered.

His wife held his hand, smiling warmly.

Just then, an incorporeal giant walked through their door. It was so tall it had to bend. This being was over twelve feet, covered from neck to toe in gray bandages, with a massive butcher blade attached to a slim long handle. It was a frightening eight-foot-long weapon. The handle was covered in bandages.

This creature had a gray hood over its head, made from the same bandage cloth. Its face was completely black and hollow, like a void, but two ghastly white orbs, like eyes, pierced through, locking on the trio.

Black mist left its body and formed a human being. He had white hair that covered his eyes and wore a black robe, his arms crossed.

"How weak. Rage doesn’t even need his weapon against you," Jon scowled, then lifted a finger.

"If you dare unleash your summons, I’ll make sure mine are well fed." Those words made Aurelia shiver.

A Fanatic was at their doorstep, and he was much stronger than them. Had her parents dealt with one of them recently?

"Now, if you don’t want to die, call Adonis."

Aurelia turned to her parents, who looked at themselves.

"We don’t have his number. I’m telling you the truth—!" The man couldn’t finish as Rage appeared before him, a fierce gale billowing due to his sudden movement. The dining table was sent backwards, throwing Aurelia and her mother to the ground as Rage looked into her father’s eyes.

Before her eyes, it devoured her father’s soul, and his hollow shell turned into a solid stone statue.

"No!!" His wife screamed at the top of her lungs, unleashing a huge crocodile. Rage crushed its head with a stomp, grabbed it, and tossed it through the wall while the woman spat blood and fell to her knees.

As Rage approached the woman, Aurelia screamed. "I’ll call him! I’ll call him ... don’t touch her!"

Jon looked at her.

Aurelia looked at her mother, shivered, reached out to her phone, and called her brother. She would have called the authorities, but this man would notice and kill her.

It was better to call her brother. Snow promised her that he would protect her no matter what. Her big brother would be here, and he would make this Fanatic beg for mercy, yet he won’t find any.

With trembling arms, Aurelia called Rowana.

***

The sound of her phone ringing got to Rowana, who was in the bathroom. She was right in the middle of it and didn’t bother leaving, so she ignored it.
