Godfrey lifted his hand and their chants increased.
’If someone told me I’d be here today, I would never have believed it. Being praised by people and being hated by them produce two different feelings. Their hate made me depend on myself, but their love makes me want to depend on them. Like I’m not my own person anymore but carried by thousands. I never would have thought about this, but... being hated was the best thing that ever happened to me.’
Godfrey’s eyes flickered.
’Because if these people leave me today, I’ll still remain who I am. And that’s because I found myself when they all looked at a false picture.’
He retrieved his knights, leaving only Mountain, Solstice, and Tempest. They were knights; forcing them to stand here for a prolonged period of time would be degrading to their duty.
At least Mountain, Solstice, and Tempest could stay as ’guards.’
Solstice stood ahead of him, on the right, arms crossed. That posture looked like he was passive, but it was actually an easy way for him to reach out to his swords.
Mountain was also ahead of Godfrey, but on the left, his massive shield by his side and the hammer-axe swung over his shoulder.
His shield was like a golden metal wall to the crowd.
Tempest floated above it all, his lightning tendril wings spreading out like a canopy.
"Nine! He has nine summons, and the old ones... they’ve changed... and they feel much stronger than before. I remember that one with tendril wings used to have a hood. I mean, he looks much tougher now, and the one with the shield didn’t have horns or that pelt before." Nathan spoke up as he saw the comments.
"I doubt they’re demigods, though. It can’t be that all his summons are demigods. There would be no sense in that." Nathan said as he reached out to a member of his team who had struggled to the front.
"Where’s the gauge?" he whispered.
The guy struggled to move his hands but was finally able to bring out the gauge.
This gauge was smaller, like a phone. All you needed was a picture.
Nathan’s teammate took a shot of Solstice and looked at Nathan.
"Demigod." He whispered, pointing at Solstice.
"There you have it. That one with the twin swords is a demigod. I’m not surprised. It’s to be—"
"The other one with the shield is also a demigod."
"What?" Nathan turned to his teammate, slightly surprised, but this was still within his expectations.
"Two demigods. That’s..."
"The one with wings is also a demigod. 33.5. That’s the lowest."
At that final report, Nathan froze.
"W-What?! Are you telling me that all his summons are demigods?!"
He turned back to Godfrey. His eyes were wide. This was beyond shock. It was unbelievable. Where in the world did this guy come from?
King of Summoners was indeed a befitting name.
His thoughts came to a halt when Godfrey cut the tape and the fog cleared, revealing him and his knights. It looked like the entire thing was carved out of a massive chunk of marble.
Godfrey stood at the front, and behind him were his knights. They formed a kind of circle, with Godfrey at the front.
Tempest was above, his tendril wings reaching the ground in order to support the statue.
While the chants of Staten’s Angel reached their peak at this revelation, Godfrey finally graced the platform.
