A chill emanated from Walker Grant’s long, narrow eyes.
His voice grew colder. "What did you tell her before?"
"I..."
Judith Pierce opened her mouth, but the words caught in her throat.
’There’s no way I can tell Walker Grant what I’m really thinking!’
Her eyes darted around as she said, "I just promised her you would keep your distance from Sunny Reed. She still has feelings for you, so she was willing to trust me this once. But now... sigh..."
She sighed helplessly.
The message was clear: she was powerless to do anything more.
Walker Grant said, "Then keep talking to her like that. There is no way I’m divorcing her."
Judith Pierce’s expression soured. "You want me to go talk to her again? Don’t you know I’ve already lost any goodwill I had with Chloe?"
But Walker Grant just chuckled. "Mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law have never gotten along. You should get used to it."
"You bastard..." Judith Pierce cursed, furious. "What kind of son are you? Pitting your mother and your wife against each other?"
Walker Grant gazed outside, his eyes impassive, his tone growing even colder. "In any case, divorce is impossible."
With that, he hung up the phone.
Staring at the disconnected call, Judith Pierce’s face was twisted with anger.
Marcus Grant walked over and saw her expression. "Is this about Walker again?" he asked.
Judith Pierce said, her head aching, "Let’s just leave. Let’s not stay at home. I’m afraid this brat is going to be the death of me."
Marcus Grant sat on the sofa. "But didn’t you introduce him to someone new? How is that progressing?"
Judith Pierce looked at him. "Will you be able to get through to him?"
Marcus Grant said, "We need to show him our stance. That we will not agree to him getting mixed up with Sunny Reed. We just need to make him understand that."
"..."
Chloe Reed was on a break, sipping water and reading her script. Kyle Coleman’s voice came through her headphones, pointing out which part of her performance lacked emotional depth and needed adjustment, and she discussed it with him.
Kyle Coleman suddenly changed the subject. "There’s someone outside looking for you."
"Hm?" Chloe Reed paused. "Who is it?"
Kyle’s tone was nonchalant. "Someone you know."
Chloe Reed was momentarily speechless. She put down her water cup and script, then walked out of the recording booth.
When she saw that the visitor was Walker Grant, her expression instantly turned cold.
