Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Stop Acting

Whatever was said on the other end of the line brought a smile to Grandma’s face. She nodded. "Alright, I’ll be waiting for you."

The call ended quickly.

Chloe Reed then asked, "Grandma, what was that about?"

The old woman said with a smile, "Your mother has someone who comes to clean my place regularly. They went yesterday and found I wasn’t home, so she called today to ask about it. I told her I was here, and she said she wants to meet."

She was overjoyed. "Chloe, your mother hasn’t called me in a very long time."

A complicated feeling welled up inside Chloe Reed, but she couldn’t let it show on her face. "Okay," she said. "I’ll go with you."

"There’s no need." The old woman waved her hand. "You go to work. I’ll head back home after I see your mother."

"So soon?" Chloe couldn’t bear the thought of her leaving. "Stay here a few more days, Grandma. I’ve really missed you."

The old woman replied, "Then you can come visit me when you’re not busy. I’m not used to it here."

Chloe Reed hugged her grandmother, wheedling her to stay for a few more days.

But the old woman wouldn’t budge, so Chloe had no choice but to give up.

However, she didn’t go to work. She was going to stay with her grandmother to prevent Autumn Linton from saying anything she shouldn’t.

Chloe Reed took her grandmother directly to the Reed family home. Autumn Linton was home recuperating now, and her color was much better than before.

"Chloe, you’re back too."

Autumn Linton was very happy to see her.

"Mom, please sit."

Autumn Linton had a maid serve tea and fruit. Although she wore a smile, the sense of distance was still very apparent.

"Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I would have sent someone to pick you up."
