Autumn Linton was in a panic. She called Charles Reed and told him the plan had failed.
"Charles, what am I supposed to do now? That damn girl, Chloe Reed, is definitely going to get her revenge on me."
There was a long silence on the other end of the line.
"Charles? Are you listening to me?" Autumn Linton’s voice grew more frantic when he didn’t respond.
After a long moment, Charles Reed’s detached voice came through. "You must be insane. Why else would you do something like this?"
Hearing this, Autumn Linton was completely stunned. "What are you talking about? You think I’m insane? But you agreed to it when I proposed the plan!"
But Charles Reed said, "I only said I’d think about it. I never said I agreed."
"You...!"
Autumn Linton was completely dumbfounded, unable to believe her ears. "What are you trying to say?"
Charles Reed sighed. "Autumn, they’re already dead. Why do you still care about all that? Right now, there’s only one way to save the Reed Group."
"..."
The car sped down the highway.
Walker Grant said in a low voice, "They’ve found her. Don’t worry."
Chloe Reed was behind the wheel, wishing she could just fly to her grandmother’s side.
Chloe Reed didn’t say a word, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.
When they reached the outskirts of the city, they could see a row of connected buildings in the distance. Several people were standing at the main entrance, two of whom were Daniel Hayes and Dylan Finch.
The two stood on opposite sides, pointedly ignoring each other.
As soon as the car stopped, both men hurried over.
Dylan Finch beat him to it, saying, "Ma’am, your grandmother is inside. I’ve already arranged for men to protect her. She’s unharmed, so you can rest assured."
Daniel Hayes frowned at him.
’Does this guy not know who his boss is?’
’Trying to take all the credit!’
Chloe Reed looked at Daniel Hayes and said, "Let’s go inside and take a look."
"You got it."
Daniel Hayes nodded, then shot Dylan Finch a triumphant glance.
’Heh. Showed off for nothing, didn’t he?’
