Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce novel Chapter 297

Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Injured

Chloe Reed had a sinking suspicion. The first bullet had struck the path right in front of her.

The second had been aimed directly at her.

Therefore, the hidden assailant was after her.

But who would want to harm her?

Had she offended someone again?

Chloe Reed’s mind was a chaotic mess, but now wasn’t the time to dwell on it. She felt Walker Grant’s grip suddenly tighten, and for a moment, she was afraid she’d be squeezed so hard she couldn’t breathe. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Walker Grant took a deep breath, then strode to the car while holding her, flung open the door, and pushed her inside.

"Stay down."

He tossed out the two words in a low voice before rounding the car to get in the other side.

All the while, he was scanning their surroundings.

The convalescent home was situated halfway up a mountain. Dense woods stretched into the distance, and there was very little traffic on this road.

The serene environment made it an ideal place for the elderly or ill to recuperate.

Who would have thought someone would exploit that very seclusion?

Walker Grant couldn’t help but recall the last time Chloe Reed had been drugged and abducted by someone posing as a sanitation worker.

’Are these attackers from the same organization?’

Daniel Hayes and Dylan Finch had already locked onto the target, and the shooting stopped. Walker Grant got into the car, immediately started the engine, and sped toward the city.

Chloe Reed, who had been crouching on the floor of the passenger side, scrambled up once the car was moving.

Her face was pale, and she asked in a trembling voice, "Who were they?"

Walker Grant said, "It’s not clear yet, but I will find out."

"Are they with the same people who kidnapped me last time?"

She, too, was thinking about the previous incident.

Walker Grant’s tone grew heavier. "Perhaps, but we can’t be certain yet."

Chloe Reed’s whole body was trembling.
