Chloe Reed stood at the door of the emergency room, her hands still trembling.
Just then, Daniel Hayes called.
"Miss Reed, how are you? Are you hurt?"
"I’m not hurt." Chloe Reed took a deep breath, steadying her emotions. "What about you guys? Are you okay?"
"We’re fine, but the two of them got away." Daniel Hayes sounded very discouraged. "So brazen, using a gun in this country!"
Chloe Reed said, "Investigate them thoroughly. Find out exactly who they are."
"Okay, I will." Daniel Hayes’s tone was very serious.
This was clearly an attack aimed at Chloe Reed. He had to get to the bottom of it.
"By the way, what about Mr. Grant? How is he?" Daniel Hayes suddenly asked.
Chloe Reed’s voice was a little hoarse as she said, "He’s hurt. I don’t know how badly. He lost consciousness not long after we got in the car."
Daniel Hayes was silent for a moment, but then he said, "You’re at the hospital now, right?"
"Yes."
"As long as they treat him quickly, he’ll be fine. Miss Reed, try not to worry too much," Daniel Hayes consoled her.
Chloe Reed acknowledged him, then immediately asked, "How is my grandmother?"
"Grandma Sutton is fine. I’ve already arranged for someone to take her back to the hospital. She still doesn’t know what happened outside. Miss Reed, if you don’t want to worry Grandma Sutton, it’s best not to say anything," Daniel Hayes advised.
An elderly person like her couldn’t handle that kind of shock.
"Yes, I know."
Chloe Reed hung up the phone. She leaned against the wall as if she’d finally found something to support her, and her tense body relaxed slightly.

Dylan Finch nodded. "Okay, I understand."
