Chloe Reed tried to see it from her perspective and could understand why Iris Yates was so frustrated right now.
While petting the dog, she said, "Why don’t you go talk to Nathaniel Monroe? Ask him what he was thinking."
Iris Yates looked at her. "You think I should?"
"He’s the one who started this mess, so he should be the one to clean it up. The pressure shouldn’t all be on you." Chloe Reed thought that what Nathaniel Monroe had done was really out of line.
’If he doesn’t like her, why would he say something so misleading?’
’And if he does like her, then he should be pursuing Iris Yates openly and honestly.’
’But now everything was a mess, and Iris was the one stuck with all the pressure.’
Iris Yates bit her lip and said, "Okay, I’ll call him right now."
Chloe Reed glanced at the time. "It’s getting late. I should head back."
Iris Yates nodded. "Okay. Get home safe."
"Mm."
"..."
After Chloe Reed left, Iris Yates dialed Nathaniel Monroe’s number.
The phone rang three times before he picked up, his voice groggy and indistinct.
"Hello? What’s up?"
Iris Yates demanded, "Nathaniel Monroe, where are you? I need to see you."
"Huh? Why do you need to see me?" Nathaniel Monroe rolled over, his voice growing a little clearer.
Iris Yates gritted her teeth. "Do I need to remind you what you did? You bastard!"
"Wait..." Nathaniel Monroe suddenly grew agitated. "What did I do? Why are you cursing at me? I have no idea what you’re talking about!"
