There was no draft in the hospital room, yet Chloe Reed felt her eyes sting. This feeling, combined with the turbulent emotions rampaging through her heart, left her feeling utterly suffocated and sad.
She kept her lips pressed tightly together, her gaze lowered, refusing to look at him.
Only after he had taken off his clothes did she begin to help him get dressed.
Her expression was serious. Her breath brushed against him from time to time, and her unique scent lingered at the tip of his nose, like a feather tickling his heart over and over.
It made him itch all over.
His prominent Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. The shirt was on in no time.
When it came to the pants, he said in a hoarse voice, "I can do it myself."
But Chloe Reed simply reached out, pulled down his hospital pants, and then picked up the pair of trousers beside them to put on him.
Walker Grant: "..."
’She’s treating me like a paralyzed patient, isn’t she?’
She pulled the trousers up, and as her hands reached his lower abdomen to work the zipper, she noticed a very obvious change.
Her movements paused slightly.
Walker Grant’s voice was full of resignation. "You know I’ve never had any resistance when it comes to you."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She yanked the zipper up forcefully, then buckled his belt.
Turning around, she walked out of the hospital room without a backward glance.
"Chloe?"
The only reply was the unforgiving sound of the door shutting.
The corners of Walker Grant’s lips curled up. He reached out to adjust his cuffs, and a low chuckle escaped him.
"..."
The flight landed in Breyburn. The temperature was already low; you needed a coat to keep from feeling the cold.
