After Chloe Reed and Iris Yates arrived, they sent Miles Hawthorne a message.
Miles Hawthorne came out to meet them.
A gentle, faint smile on his face, he said, "Let’s go. My friends are having a get-together here. You can hang out for a bit before going home."
Chloe Reed shook her head. "No, thanks. Iris and I have been out shopping all day and we’re a little tired. I just came to tell you... let’s forget about the divorce."
Miles Hawthorne looked slightly surprised to hear that. "Why?"
They were standing in the lobby’s seating area, and Miles Hawthorne’s figure was conveniently obscured by a large, ornamental plant.
Anyone passing by could only see Chloe Reed talking to someone, with Iris Yates standing beside her.
She looked across at him with a serious expression and said, "Let’s not get divorced for now. If we wait a while, maybe it won’t be so complicated."
A flicker of something crossed Miles Hawthorne’s eyes before he slowly nodded. "Alright. But if you need any help later on, just let me know anytime. After all, I’ve known you for so long, and I still want you to be happy."
Chloe Reed’s lips curved into a smile, her gaze softening. "Thank you."
Miles Hawthorne raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don’t want to come up for a bit? They’re all classmates and friends you know."
"No, thanks."
Chloe Reed turned to leave, but a waiter hurried past from behind her.
She wasn’t paying attention and bumped into the waiter, stumbling backward.
Miles Hawthorne reached out and caught her just in time, saving her from a fall.
And this exact scene was witnessed by Walker Grant, who was just walking in the door.
She was coming out of a man’s embrace, and she even turned back to smile at him, her face flushed.
One moment she’s leaving a massage parlor.
The next, she’s here.
’Is she doing this just to spite me?’
Just then, Nathaniel Monroe keenly pointed out, "Walker, isn’t that your wife...?"
Walker’s tone was frigid. "I’m not blind."
