Walker Grant moved, and the weight on her body eased slightly.
Chloe Reed gasped for air, then shoved him away. "Get out."
Walker Grant lay on his side on the sofa, his handsome eyes tinged with a faint drunkenness. "I won’t. I had a hard time getting in."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She actually laughed out of anger!
’He hired a locksmith to pick my lock in the middle of the night, and he thinks *he’s* the one who’s in the right?’
Chloe Reed wanted to drag him out, but she was afraid that if she got too close, he would pin her to the sofa again.
Her expression turned cold. "Fine. You can just lie there."
With that, she turned and headed for the bedroom. Walker Grant got up and followed, but she swung the door shut and immediately locked it.
The door panel nearly broke Walker Grant’s straight, handsome nose.
He stared at the door. "Chloe, let me in."
Chloe Reed put her earplugs back in and ignored him.
Walker Grant stood at the door for a long time. Seeing that Chloe wasn’t going to let him in, he lowered his gaze, returned to the living room, and lay down on the sofa. He snatched the throw pillow Chloe always hugged and clutched it to his chest.
The pillow carried her scent. He inhaled it deeply and was asleep a moment later.
「The next day.」
When Chloe Reed came out of the bedroom, she saw him curled up on the sofa.
’A tall man with long legs, curled up just like that. Did he actually look a little... pitiful?’
Chloe Reed coldly averted her gaze.
’Thinking he’s pitiful?’
’I’d have to be crazy to think that.’
"..."
It was already nine in the morning when Walker Grant woke up.
He pressed his temples; he’d had a little to drink for a social obligation last night, and now his head was aching.
But he remembered everything that happened last night.
He looked around, but she was nowhere in sight.
The man’s deep, pleasant voice came through the line, sounding exceptionally gentle when he said her name.
"Do you have time right now? I’d like to see you," Chloe Reed said, her tone flat as she stared at the coffee in front of her.
"Where are you?" Walker Grant’s voice grew even gentler.
In his mind, the fact that she had reached out to him must mean she wanted to reconcile.
Chloe Reed told him the name of the coffee shop, and Walker Grant replied, "I’ll be there soon. Wait for me."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Chloe Reed looked up to meet Selene Adler’s probing gaze.
"Is there something you’re wondering about, Miss Adler?" Chloe Reed asked calmly, taking a sip of her coffee.
Selene Adler nodded slowly. "I’ve heard some rumors," she asked, "that Second Young Master Grant is involved with his sister-in-law. Is that why you’re divorcing him?"
Chloe Reed looked her straight in the eye. "It’s not a rumor."
Selene Adler was taken aback. "So it’s actually true?"
Chloe Reed asked, "So, do you regret it?"
