Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Introducing a Date to My Husband

Selene Adler’s expression was conflicted and hesitant. After a moment, she suddenly looked up at Chloe Reed and said, "I don’t regret it. I believe I can change him."

Chloe Reed’s lips twitched. "Then good luck to you."

She stopped looking at Selene Adler.

Inside, she was in agony.

It felt as if a steel wire were strangling her heart, each throb a new wave of searing pain.

’Setting up my own husband with another woman.’

Hah!

’To think I’d actually stoop to this.’

She picked up her spoon and agitatedly stirred her coffee, her frustration mounting once more.

She didn’t know how much time had passed before a sound came from the entrance.

Chloe Reed instinctively looked up to see Walker Grant’s tall, well-built figure approaching.

A complicated look filled her eyes. Just a moment ago, she had been wishing he wouldn’t show up.

But now, he had already strode right up to her. His long, dark, almond-shaped eyes were fixed on her, a smile playing in their depths.

"Catching up with a friend?"

He glanced at Selene Adler, not recognizing her.

He then pulled out the chair beside Chloe Reed and sat down, draping his arm naturally around the back of her seat in a half-embrace, a gesture brimming with possessiveness.

Chloe Reed suppressed the turmoil in her heart. "This is a new friend of mine, Selene Adler," she said. "She’s a finance graduate and is having a tough time finding a job. Do you have any openings for her?"

Listening to her, Walker Grant raised a handsome brow. "Are you asking me to pull some strings?"

Chloe Reed met his gaze calmly. "Can I?"

It had been a long time since she had looked at him so calmly.

His heart gave a little flutter. A smile played on his lips as he said, "Of course. Anything for Mrs. Grant."
