Chapter 171 Stubborn Little Thing
No. Adrian. Julian still cares about the Whitmore family…
Before Sylvia Whitmore could finish, the call ended.
The beautiful Omega tightened both hands,
What was she supposed to do now?
Sebastian wanted her to persuade Adrian, to have Adrian act as the eldest brother and talk Julian around.
And then there were the old patriarch and Sebastian’s older brother…
Sylvia stared at the thin rain drifting outside, her eyes hollow and lost.
Just then, a female attendant brought her a cup of black tea and several small plates of bright, delicate floral tea cakes.
“Ma’am, you look upset. Would you like me to sit with you for a while?”
The attendant’s smile was as gentle as ever, soothing Sylvia’s confusion like warm sunlight.
So Sylvia heard herself say, “All right. Thank you.”
Julian, stubborn as ever, was dragged out of the temporary lab by Orion one hour before the medal ceremony began.
The whole Omega was dusty, gray, and messy.
The serum in his hand, however, was bright, glossy, and emerald green.
“The medal ceremony? What does that have to do with me? Can I not go?”
him firmly by the waist and refused to respond no matter what Julian asked.
ys and nights of nonstop work, the stubborn little thing finally drooped his head ngry…”
silent.
ays and nights locked in a lab, and now he was hungry?
had he not starved himself to death?

“Didn’t I leave nutrient fluids for you? Why didn’t you drink them?”
Orion stopped walking and looked at Julian with helpless worry.
The boy answered with absolute confidence.
“Forgot.”
Orion said, “?”
Then starve.
That was what he thought.
But complaints were complaints. The Alpha still quickly pulled out a nutrient tube he carried with him, opened it, and held it to the Omega’s lips.
Other Omegas ate with grace, or at least slowly.
Julian tilted his head back and drank like he was chugging water. Before he even finished the first tube, he had already held out a hand to Orion.
“Not enough. More.”
Orion pressed a hand to his forehead.
Orion refused.
Orion gave a reason.
“You haven’t eaten in three days. Eating too much at once will be bad for your stomach.”
Julian’s face went cold.
“You’re making noises. I don’t understand. Give me two-”
He never got to finish “tubes.”
Orion pinched the soft flesh of his cheek and gave it a gentle shake.
“No more stubbornness. You need to change and go receive your medal.”
The stubborn one said nothing.
He only pursed his lips, waited until he had drawn the Alpha’s attention away, and launched a sudden attack, reaching for the nutrient fluids in Orion’s pocket himself.

Unfortunately, Julian’s speed was excellent among Omegas, top-tier among Betas, but only average among Alphas.
And Orion was one of the Empire’s strongest Alphas.
He caught Julian’s wrist with one hand, lowered his eyes, and smiled at him.

“Caleb and the others prepared quite a few frontier specialties to thank you. So, Julian, are you sure you want nutrient fluid instead of saving room for something better?”
The stubborn little thing blinked.
Then licked his lips.
The stubborn little thing wanted food.
“Oh.”
Once his heart was settled, Julian withdrew his hand in one second. He looked so obedient that no one would believe he had just tried to rob an Alpha’s pocket.
Orion laughed softly.
Then he rubbed the boy’s easily reddened cheek and coaxed him in a gentler voice.
“But you do have to attend the ceremony. Too many people want to see you. The military can’t push it off.”
Julian said, “?”
Everyone had two eyes and one mouth.
What was there to see?
Had interstellar people never seen another person before?
“Commander Whitmore, you went to the very front line with General Ashford in this defense battle. I imagine your rank will be moving up soon.”
“Exactly. In the Empire’s century-long war against the insectoids, this defense battle absolutely counts as a major victory.”
“Four 28 royal insectoids killed, and a new Omega Lord born. If that isn’t a victory, what is?”
Outside Gaia’s grand auditorium, an Alpha in a crisp military uniform smiled politely as he spoke with colleagues and senior officers.

His face was still slightly pale.
The congratulations sounded pleasant, but none of them cased his mood.
