Chapter 172 For Him

“Hey, I heard Master Tyrell and Master Martin both admitted defeat. They think you’re a once- in-a-generation genius and the future of mecha engineering. Thoughts?”
Blair Frost had wanted to bump Julian’s shoulder.
Unfortunately, the wolf cub in the boy’s arms was wicked enough to stretch out a paw and grab at her.
Damn it.
Julian noticed none of the silent battle between Blair and the cub.
The stubborn lotus he had forced back into his psychic sea was currently sobbing in his head, making his temples throb in waves.
So he answered without thinking.
“If I said I hope all of you stop hoping, would you listen?”
Blair said, “?”
Then she said, “No.”
Then she saw the look on Julian’s face, the one that very clearly said, Then why did you ask me?
Geniuses were allowed to be strange.
That was normal.
Completely normal.
Blair was still comforting herself when someone appeared in front of her and Julian.
She knew him too.
“Commander Whitmore?”
“Miss Frost.”
Adrian nodded to Blair, then turned to Julian. His voice was slightly dry.
“Master Julian, may I speak with you privately?”
“No.”

Chapter 172 For Him
Julian stroked the wolf cub’s head. His delicate pale face held no expression at all.
In that instant, Blair sensed the mood shift.
Very politely, she took one step aside.
Adrian drew a breath.
He was about to force out the next sentence when Julian studied him for a moment and spoke first.
“You know.”
The boy used a statement, not a question.
Adrian’s breath caught.
All he could do was nod.
“Yes.”
Then he heard Julian say, cold as ice, “Since you know, I’ll tell you what I told the rest of the Whitmores. For everyone to have a better future, just pretend I’m dead.”
With that, the boy turned to leave.
He did not hate Adrian the way he hated the rest of the Whitmores.
Adrian was a good person.
But that had nothing to do with him.
Yet when Adrian saw the coldness across Julian’s eyes and brows, he still gritted his teeth and asked, “Julian, which legion are you planning to join after graduation?”
Julian said, “?”
He did not understand how the conversation had jumped there.
Still, the honest Omega answered honestly.
“The Second Legion, probably.”
His sect leader was foolish, rich, and generous.
Julian liked him a lot.

“I understand.”
Adrian raised his right fist and tapped it against his heart, then looked up and smiled at Julian.
Julian said, “?”
You understand?
What do you understand now?
But he clearly did not care much about Adrian, so the question circled in his mind for only one second before exhaustion claimed him.
Then he buried his face in the wolf cub’s belly and inhaled hard.
Meanwhile…
Caleb Hayes, who had suddenly received Adrian’s application to give up his major rank in the Fourth Legion and transfer to the Second Legion Vanguard Regiment, stared at it.
“?”
No.
Was this big crocodile, the one Caleb had failed to lure over no matter how much he lied or how many benefits he threw out, damaged by insectoids?
If his brain had not been damaged…
How the hell could he not even want his rank and still insist on bypassing the Fourth Legion command to force a transfer?
Laurie Rick, who was not exactly cultured, said, “What does this prove? It proves our Second Legion is mighty, glorious, and charging forward under our boss’s leadership. Even someone like Adrian Whitmore is rushing over in waves.”
Caleb rolled his eyes at Laurie and turned uncertainly toward Orion in the front seat.
“Boss, could this be a trap?”
“We’ll know if we ask.”
Orion sat in the first row of the auditorium and closed the ceremony program in his hand.
