Chapter 202 A Wolf’s Instinct
The Omega in that territory belonged to him.
Only him.
While Dr. Quill gathered people outside with no confidence at all, preparing to break in and possibly get everyone killed, Julian lay beneath Orion in the ward, breath unsteady and eyes unfocused.
His tongue tingled.
“Mm…”
His mind had not rebooted yet.
Orion bent down again. His green eyes were usually cold, but now heat had burned straight through that cy color.
Julian thought he looked like a wolf.
A starving wolf.
One that wanted to eat him whole.
Then the wolf kissed him again.
This wolf was a huge creep.
“Awoo-”
Ruin seemed to sense its master’s edge slipping. The wolf cub rubbed its furry head against Julian’s fingers. then darted across the couch, grabbed an inhibitor in its mouth, and raced back.
“Awoo! Awoo! Awoo!”
It howled with everything it had.
Outside, Dr. Quill and the others stopped right before breaking the door. Dr. Quill changed tactics at once and knocked instead.
“Ruin! What’s happening in there? Can the general still hold himself back? If yes, howl once!
Ruin: “?”
About thirty seconds later, Orion’s steady voice came through the door.
Everyone outside nearly collapsed with relief.
“Do not worry. I can still control myself…”
Julian, dizzy from fever and kisses while still pinned under him, muttered with great stubbornness. “Hard to say.”

Dr. Quill: “!”
Stop saying that!
Every time you say that, my heart stops!
Fortunately, Julian did not get much more time to terrify him.
Orion took the inhibitor from Ruin and drove another shot into his own gland. A visible clanty returned to
his eyes.
Only then did he lift Julian from the couch and settle him back on his lap, turning the sprawled-out Omega! into a seated one again.
“I’m sorry, Julian.”
His palm cupped the back of Julian’s neck, careful and controlled. He guided Julian back to his shoulder
Julian’s nose returned to the Alpha’s gland.
The sweetest place on Orion.
He breathed it in greedily and melted in satisfaction, so pleased that he completely forgot he was supposed to scold Orion for being a creep.
“Mm… smells good.”
The arm around Julian’s waist tightened.
Orion’s breathing changed again.
He had considered carrying Julian back to bed.
But with Julian’s current survival instincts, the Omega would probably climb down and toddle right back to him.
As for tying Julian down and making him suffer on the bed..
Orion did not want to.
And he could not bring himself to do it.
He decided he would keep injecting inhibitors every half hour
Even though he had already noticed the interval shrinking.
Each dose held for less time than the last.
But plans were never built to survive Julian
After only ten quiet minutes of being patted, soothed, and allowed to breathe in pheromones, Julian stiffened again.
The needlelike pain at the back of his neck had returned.

Chapter 202 A Wolf’s Instinct
Julian: “…”
If ripping this thing out would not kill me, I would do it right now.
Orion felt him tremble.
“Does your gland hurt again?”
“No.”
“It does not hurt.”
Orion: “…”
That tone could cut metal.
Yes.
Clearly it did not hurt.
He still had enough energy to be fierce.
So they remained locked in place.
Julian’s head was full of violent plans for his miserable gland.
Orion’s head was full of dangerous thoughts about the sweet Omega in his arms.
Different targets.
Same general direction.
That counted as understanding each other.
Probably.
Then the pain changed.
It was no longer only pain. It itched too, deep and maddening.
Orion was holding him. His pheromones surrounded him. Ruin kept howling comfort from beside them.
None of it was enough.
Julian could not keep enduring this.
He had to find a way.
For one brief moment, the fog in his head thinned.
That was when he realized something.
When he kissed Orion, the pain seemed to stop.
