Chapter 41 Perfect Was Not Enough

Honestly, if R was that kind of person, it made sense that her cat would try the same thing.

Another ten minutes passed.

The Class C student finally finished his energy block after a very painful struggle. The students from Classes D and E chose surrender instead. They clearly decided there was no need to keep humiliating themselves onstage.

At last, the in-class test reached its most exciting part.

The four completed energy blocks would be tested.

“Meow.”

MeowWow walked first to the Class C student.

The Beta looked exactly as honest as he behaved. He immediately picked up his energy block and followed the cat to the testing device.

A soft beep sounded.

The values appeared on the huge whiteboard.

“C-class beginner.”

The system voice had barely finished before the honest Beta let out a breath so hard it looked like his soul had come back.

He passed.

That was enough.

He nearly fled the stage afterward.

MeowWow then turned toward Bessie Phillips.

The red-haired Beta girl from Class B had no baggage. She placed her block into the device at once.

“C-class high-grade.”

Bessie froze, then quickly checked the details.

Sure enough, some energy had leaked during extraction. Although she had extracted ten portions of energy liquid, the loss kept her just short of perfect.

Still, high-grade was already impressive.

Class B cheered for her anyway.

Finally, MeowWow looked at Julian and Landon at the same time.

Chapter 41-Prfect Was Not Enough

A second testing device rose on the platform.

“Meow.”

Landon Reed tightened his grip on his energy block. The face framed by gold-rimmed glasses stayed composed, but something stiff and unnatural flashed across it.

With MeowWow staring at him, not testing was impossible.

Compared with his tension, Julian was very relaxed.

He walked up with his energy block and was about to set it straight onto the device.

That single move terrified Landon, who had been walking slowly.

If Julian placed his block first and Landon went after him, the comparison would look even worse.

So Landon sped up, took two quick steps, and placed his block down first.

“C-class perfect.”

“C-class perfect.”

The two system voices sounded almost together.

The students stared harder.

The numbers were exactly the same.

Both were one hundred percent across the board.

The moment the data came out, Landon nearly sagged with relief.

He had not embarrassed himself.

Not only that, he might even be slightly better.

Julian had extracted twelve portions of energy liquid. Landon had used only ten. Yet their final values were identical.

Landon was not the only one relieved. Advisor Barnes and the rest of Class A relaxed too.

They were Class A.

If Class F crushed them in the first practical class, where would their faces go?

This result was already acceptable.

The only problem was that Class A had clearly offended Class F before class. They were afraid Julian would use this chance to attack them.

But Julian was never that bored.

Pearly

In fact, he barely cared about the numbers.

He only glanced at the display, then reached out to take back his energy block.

And somehow got slapped by a paw

Julian said, “?”

MeowWow had arched its back like a little beast guarding food.

Julian had no choice but to pull his hand back.

Fortunately, the cat had not actually scratched him. It had only swatted him with a furry paw.

Seeing Julian get slapped, Landon quickly withdrew the hand he had been reaching toward his own block.

MeowWow seemed satisfied with him and did not slap him.

Everyone stared in confusion, not knowing what this cat lord wanted.

R’s voice finally sounded again.

“Anne. Bring over two Mecha Piloting students. I want to test these two energy blocks on-site.”

“Yes.”

Anne was surprised R still remembered her name, but she immediately took the two energy blocks and
