Chapter 42 Perfect Still Had Levels
45 Poorts
The two practice mechas traded blows for several more rounds, and for a while, neither side could pull ahead.
Then Mecha A created distance.
The quantum cannon mounted on its right arms lit up fast, gathering power before blasting straight toward Mecha F’s face.
Mecha F seemed to have been waiting for it.
Almost at the same instant, its own cannon fired.
The two shots collided midair.
The lecture hall erupted.
Because Mecha F’s shot did not merely hold its ground.
It blew Mecha A’s blast apart.
The pilot inside Mecha A clearly had not expected that. In the scramble to dodge, the entire machine tilted off-center.
Mecha F took the opening at once. It rushed in and slammed Mecha A to the ground.
When two pilots were close in skill, one mistake was enough.
“What just happened?”
“Was that Julian’s energy block?”
“The teachers aren’t saying either…”
While the students whined wildly, R’s flat mechanical voice cut in.
“Change pilots. Bring in someone stronger.”
“Understood.”
Anne led the defeated student out of the training room. Soon, she returned with another pilot and had him enter Mecha A.
Both mechas lit up again.
This time, the fight started with close-range strikes. Mecha F’s handling was obviously rougher than Mecha A’s, and its pilot realized that quickly.
So Mecha F backed off first and fired its quantum cannon.
Once again, Mecha A fired to intercept.

Still Had Levels

Once again, Mecha F’s blast scattered Mecha A’s.
In the first match, Mechs A had fired first, so even after its shot was overpowered, its pilot still had a
moment to react.
This round was different.
Mecha Fattacked first.
Mecha A answered.
That tiny shift cut Mecha A’s reaction time down sharply.
So even though the new pilot was clearly more experienced than the first one, Mecha F still won by relying on the cannon advantage.
The students watching the video were stunned.
Even Mecha F’s own pilot looked stunned.
“Again.”
R’s voice remained calm.
A third pilot entered Mecha A.
The fight restarted.
This time, Mecha F could still overpower the other side’s cannon fire, but Mecha A’s pilot dodged with ease. Even when Mecha F fired several shots in a row, Mecha A slipped through them like it was playing.
Mecha A stopped firing altogether.
It simply toyed with Mecha F.
The gap between the pilots was obvious now.
A Mecha Engineering student recognized the new pilot and whispered, “That’s Marcus Hale, an Alpha from second-year Class S. Making him fight a Beta is just bullying.”
Everyone thought Mecha F was finished.
Then Mecha A’s lights went dark.
Everyone stared.
What now?
“Julian, do you know what happened?”
Noah and the others immediately crowded around Julian, expecting the maker of the energy block to know something.

Chapter 42-le: Still Hod-Levels
Julian looked half asleep.
“Huh? No.”
Noah and the others went silent.
At that moment, R finally gave them an explanation.
“I installed an energy governor on both energy blocks. Each block was allowed to release only ten percent of its stored power. Mecha A stopped because its power ran out.”
Ran out?
So both blocks had only been allowed to release ten percent.
Mecha F had been firing its quantum cannon again and again, yet it was still operating.
Mecha A had run dry first.
That made no sense.
Everyone knew it made no sense.
Unless Mecha F’s energy block was stronger.
Much stronger.
“Now do you see it?” R said. “Perfect is not a single ceiling.”
Her words snapped everyone awake.
Almost at once, every gaze turned toward Julian.
Some eyes were complicated.
Some were full of worship.
Some were searching.
Most were simply disbelieving.
