Outcast Omega Pampered by the Alpha General novel Chapter 441

Chapter 441 The Trap Laid in Plain Sight

“Breaking: Omega Sovereign Julian Shaw Will Lead the Insectoid Purge”

Finished

“This is beyond ridiculous! Everyone knows it’s fake, so why do people keep pushing it back to the top?”

Laurie Rick had almost run out of patience with StarNet.

The military’s information division had deleted the post repeatedly. Anyone who spent that much time online could see that every version climbing the rankings was a fresh repost.

Yet no matter how obvious the lie was, people kept commenting and bumping it back up.

“The system flagged part of the traffic as paid manipulation, but the rest really are active StarNet accounts.”

Colonel Zoya Vance studied the virtual display in front of the information engineer, her expression equally grim.

The analysis proved the report was false. It also proved why the rumor refused to die: it had struck directly at what most civilians needed and gave them a sense of safety.

“What, they think everything will be fine if Little Sir goes?”

Laurie rolled his eyes so hard they nearly disappeared into his skull.

He expected the others to agree. Instead, the entire room went quiet. No one supported him.

Laurie was about to lose his temper when Caleb Hayes, his face still covered in dark bruises, hissed through his teeth.

“I mean… wouldn’t it?”

Laurie: “?”

The look on Laurie’s face clearly said, So you were the traitor all along.

Adrian Whitmore shook his head, rose from his seat, and patted Laurie on the shoulder.

“Julian is the Empire’s only Omega Sovereign. He is the commander-in-chief’s partner and carries the privileges of a lieutenant general. Have you ever considered how many people are assigned to accompany him whenever he travels?”

“I don’t think Little Sir is the kind of Omega who wants special treatment,” Laurie insisted.

Adrian’s next question silenced him completely.

“Julian may not ask for it, but do you think General Ashford would leave him without it? And do you think the rest of us would allow the military to take that protection away?”

Obviously not.

Julian had to receive that level of security.

He had earned it.

Orion would deprive himself of everything before he ever deprived Julian of anything.

Everyone in the military knew that. So did the civilians who had watched Greedy Wolf Meow fight five mecha at once and witnessed exactly how hopelessly in love Orion became around Julian.

The safety of the entire Empire depended on the front, which meant Commander-in-Chief Orion Ashford could not leave the border.

The interior, however, concerned civilian lives and the stability of everyday society. Having Omega Sovereign Julian Shaw intervene would be the best possible answer.

Julian’s arrival would be almost the same as Orion’s.

Wherever Julian went, the military’s attention would follow. That would force Orion to watch both the border and the interior and ensure neither side was neglected.

And finally…

Julian was the Empire’s only Omega Sovereign.

That alone made him important enough.

Didn’t it?

“Whether the plan works or fails, Little Sir is the person the public most wants to see. At the very least, he gives them emotional reassurance.”

People trusted Julian. They placed their hopes in him. Some had even begun turning him into something larger than human.

The Empire’s finest Omega had always carried the meaning of a blessing. Hadn’t the late Empress and Helen once been viewed in much the same way?

Human beings could be the best creatures in existence.

They could also be the worst.

Kindness, anxiety, and fear could all become blades in another person’s hand, cutting mercilessly into someone innocent or even someone great.

Laurie slammed his palm against the table.

Someone was steering public opinion.

That much was obvious.

Worse, the person behind it had chosen the one desire people could not reject. It was a trap completely in the open.

Julian could still refuse to go.

“Say you don’t want this, and I will stand with you. So will the entire military.”

Orion held Julian’s gaze. Perhaps his wings were not yet strong enough to shelter Julian from every storm, but he would use everything he possessed to try.

He wanted Julian to say no.

Julian stared into those absurdly tender eyes, the kind that could make even a glance at a stray dog look affectionate. He seemed confused, yet saw through the matter with startling clarity.

“If I go, are you going to stop standing with me?”

Orion: “?”

Before Orion could say that was impossible, Julian continued with precise seriousness.

“You can avoid one attack, but you can’t hide forever. I’ve been hunted often enough, and I’ve hunted plenty of people myself. You think I wouldn’t understand that? Orion, you’re so stupid.”

Orion: “…”

His lips pressed into a thin line.

Sometimes Orion genuinely wondered why Julian’s full heat was taking so long to arrive.

He wanted to “punish” him.

Badly.
