Chapter 48 His Choice
The required core depended on the rank the Omega wanted to reack,
When Helen had advanced from A-class to S-class, Orion had personally led troops to hunt a 25 royal insectoid for him.
Only because of that had Helen succeeded.
Which meant that if Helen wanted to reach 25, he needed a 3S core.
Fresh.
Just killed.
Cut out and absorbed immediately.
But 2S royal insectoids already commanded massive swarms.
As for 3S imperial insectoids, the empire had only recorded two in all these years.
“I know a 3S core is almost impossible to obtain,” Helen said, voice tense, “but Orion is the empire’s only
3S Alpha. If his psychic sea remains sealed, the loss to the empire would be-”
“Enough.”
The cold voice from the bed cut him off.
Everyone turned.
Orion had opened his eyes.
He was looking at them quietly.
“Orion…”
“General!”
The officers rushed to the bedside. Several hardened military men already had red eyes.
“Lord Helen said there’s still hope. If he reaches 2S, he can save you. Caleb can stay here and guard you. We’ll go to the frontier and hunt those damn insects right now!”
A reckless giant was already rolling up his sleeves.
Orion looked at him.
The man froze.
“I used to think you were only slow. Apparently, you’re actually stupid.”
His emerald eyes were iced over.

Chapter 48-the Choice
Orion was about to continue when his wrist terminal lit
up
beside him.
He glanced down.

Two special-alert messages sat on the screen.
Julian: “Remember the cheated-on General Mulholland I mentioned today? Apparently he’s alive…”
Julian: “Little black cat full of question marks.jpg”
Orion said nothing.
His gaze lingered on “cheated-on General Mulholland.”
He almost laughed.
Almost.
He also wanted to ask the little Omega whether, as an imperial citizen, he truly did not know who General Mulholland was.
Then he thought of the Julian from that other life, the one who had died from a genetic illness.
And of this Julian, alive here beside him.
Fine.
Ignorance could be forgiven.
So Caleb and the others watched their general stop in the middle of scolding them, press his fingers against his brow, and start typing on a screen they could not see.
Sect Leader Ashford: “Still awake?”
Sect Leader Ashford: “Little black cat tucked in.jpg”
After answering Julian, Orion looked back at his foolish subordinates.
“Even if my psychic sea is sealed, the empire still has Marshal Ashford, General Marston, and all of you.”
“General…”
The reckless man wanted to argue again.
Caleb stopped him with a look.
“When I attacked the Brood Mother, I did not expect to live.” Orion’s tone stayed steady. “I lived anyway. If the toxin destroys my psychic sea, if I become useless, if I die later, that is still the consequence of my own choice.”
No one spoke.
