Chapter 51 A Very Helpful Customer

“These are the new low-grade-psychic stabilizers and low-grade psychic recovery serums we received over the past few days. Hopefully the gentlemen buying this batch are more reliable.”

Mr. Lowell gave Julian a quick explanation, grabbed his things, and hurried out.

Only after he left did Julian get a proper look at the products inside the counter.

Then his poverty became even clearer.

Even the low-grade serums assigned to his counter were priced in psychic crystals of different grades and quantities.

The low-grade psychic stabilizer in front of him, for example, cost three Heart’s Tears.

Based on what Julian knew, Heart’s Tears were nowhere near the quality of the crystals Orion had given him. Still, one sold for roughly 10,000 to 20,000 credits on the open market.

In other words, one bottle of cheap psychic stabilizer cost at least 40,000 credits.

And compared with the high-grade serums displayed at the center of the apothecary-the ones priced directly in insectoid cores-his counter was still considered affordable.

Julian glanced at the 83 credits left in his account.

The original owner had been right to never survive a weekend with money.

He was still lost in thought when a hand suddenly reached over the counter, aiming straight for the side of

his face.

A greasy male voice followed.

“Well, look what we have here. Isn’t this Julian Shaw, StarNet’s miracle Beta?”

Julian frowned.

Right before those fingers touched his cheek, he shifted aside without a sound.

“Not bad. No wonder they call you a miracle Beta. Fast little thing, aren’t you?”

The Alpha leading the group stared at him with dark red eyes, the cold interest in them making hu as if he had found prey.

Julian answered with no expression at all.

“Oh. No wonder you’re a useless Alpha Your hand was so slow”

The Alpha said, “?”

Their exchange had already drawn plenty of eyes inside the apothecary

From the low murmurs around him. Julian caught the Alpha’s name clearly.

Sain Holt.

“What’s your relationship with Mitchell Holt?”

mushed

Sain, who had been annoyed a moment ago, looked into Julian’s amber cat eyes and suddenly smiled.

“What do you think?”

A second ago, Julian had been sharp enough to snap back.

Now he was asking questions?

Scared already?

That thought had barely formed before Julian said, clearly uninterested, “You’re just as annoying as him. You must be brothers.”

Sain Holt fell silent.

So did the people with him.

Then several customers nearby burst out laughing.

From the original owner’s memories, Julian realized he had guessed surprisingly close.

Sain and Mitchell were cousins.

Unlike Mitchell, who had chosen military school, Sain had rejected his family’s training three years ago and become a fairly successful bounty hunter.

Bounty hunters in this era were closer to interstellar explorers. They surveyed barren planets, scouted new worlds, and sometimes did dirty jobs for whoever paid.

Sain was also a regular at Timeglow Apothecary.

And he had a well-known hobby.

Pretty male Betas.

From what Julian remembered, several male Beta clerks in this apothecary had once been Sam’s lovers, or were still tangled up with him.

“I heard your counter has always had the worst sales here” Sain studied Julian, clearly amused by his bite “Want me to help you out?”

His gaze moved over Julian.

“How did I never notice? You’re the best-looking clerk in the whole place.”

That one sentence made enemies for Julian instantly.
