Chapter 50 Timeglow Apothecary
The cheering stopped at last.
Everyone was busy scrolling through StarNet.
Julian finally breathed out.

He pulled out the pheromone cologne again, sprayed his bed with great care, then followed Orion’s reminder and climbed under the blanket holding a high-grade crystal that could nourish an Omega’s psychic power.
While most of the empire celebrated Orion’s return and dissected his broken engagement, the mood inside the imperial palace was far less joyful.
Prince Harold Mulholland stared into his wine and sneered.
“Half a year missing, and he still crawled back alive. Orion really is difficult to kill.”
“Your Highness, please calm yourself.”
Prynn Watson, commander of the Seventh Legion and Harold’s uncle, spoke softly.
He would have done better to keep silent.
His voice only reminded Harold of the Seventh Legion’s latest failure.
“Uncle, didn’t you say the Zerath matter would be easy? Didn’t you say helping the Holt family along the way would cost us nothing? Look where we are now.”
Not long ago, Major General Caleb Hayes, acting commander of the Second and Third Legions, had filed a formal request with the military, asking to take over the investigation into Zerath.
Before that, the Seventh Legion had tried to manipulate StarNet opinion to save Mitchell.
They had failed.
Now half the military was probably laughing behind their backs.
Prynn’s forehead shone with sweat.

“If my judgment is correct, the leak about Zerath was likely Orion’s doing. Otherwise, Ethan Cross would not have appeared so suddenly and insisted on protecting a Beta with no support.”
Prynn knew he could not escape responsibility.
Still, he believed Orion’s side had set a trap while the Seventh Legion had been unprepared.
“A Beta with no support?”
Harold looked at him sharply.

An attendant hurried forward and opened à StarNet video

In the video, a black-haired young man moved across the back of a Golden Tarric Scorpion as if the monster were nothing more than a training platform. He ran, dodged twisted, and survived with astonishing ease.
“Julian Shaw?”
After hearing the name, Harold smiled.
Wasn’t this the rude Beta Helen had mentioned?
The one who had spoken wildly in front of him?
Then dealing with him would serve two purposes.
It would make an example.
And it would please Helen.

“Little pests like this should be cleaned up before they start biting.”
Prynn lowered his eyes at once.
“Leave it to me, Your Highness.”
When morning light touched the academy road, Julian was walking to class again.
Unlike yesterday, when lack of pheromones had left him half dead, today he was staring at an anonymous message and thinking about poverty.
Poverty never came once.
It either stayed away completely, or it came in packs.
“Oh, right.” Noah suddenly remembered something while planning Saturday’s mecha exhibition trip with Leo and Samuel. “Julian has work at the apothecary tomorrow. He probably can’t come with us.”
Leo and Samuel froze.
Then they remembered that Julian had always done work-study jobs.
On weekends, he usually vanished.
Julian nodded at the right time.
“Next time.”
Early the next morning, Julian arrived at Timeglow Apothecary for his shift.
It was the largest serum shop near the Imperial Military Academy, and its building was hard to ignore.
The whole place was shaped like a glowing flower.

It breathed
It never wilted.
Each slow opening and closing of the petals released a faint mint scent into the air, leaving customers clearheaded before they even stepped inside.
Julian entered and saw rows of glass counters.
Inside were psychic treatment serums with different effects and prices that could make poor people lose the will to live.
Even so, Alphas lined up in front of the counters while smiling clerks introduced the products.
Medical technology in this era was impressive.
There were hemostatic gels.
Light-based healing devices.
Even regeneration pods capable of regrowing lost limbs.
But all of those treated flesh.
Not the psychic sea.
