"She... got away."
Zoren, Penny, Charles, Slater, Mark, and Angel did their best to catch up. Despite encountering enemies and even their own allies, they stopped for no one. However, even with their best efforts, there was no way for them to catch up.
Their eyes were wide, and the beating of their hearts slowed at the mere thought that Nathalie had gotten away.
Tonight was a perfect chance to end this once and for all. But now that she had escaped, they knew there would be a next time. And next time? They weren’t sure if they could get out of here unscathed.
"Damn it," Zoren breathed out through gritted teeth, his hands balled into tight fists.
At the same time, Angel and Mark, who had managed to find some bazookas, lowered them. Even if they fired at the chopper, it wouldn’t reach the aircraft. If anything, firing it might hurt their own men who were still fighting below.
Penny, on the other hand, drew a deep breath. She kept her eyes on the aircraft, swallowing the tension in her throat. Tonight, they had an advantage because Shawn folded and switched sides.
’What now?’ she wondered to herself, balling her hands into tight fists.
The question didn’t only linger with her but with everyone. Slater, for instance, clenched his teeth as he glared at the aircraft.
"No, I’m not letting her get away—" Just as Slater turned to leave, perhaps to find the nearest available aircraft in the area, Charles stopped him.
"Slater," Charles called, watching his son look in his direction. He shook his head at him and then shifted his eyes to everyone. "She got away, there’s that. And there’s no one to blame for that. Nathalie has been in this business, and getting away from a pickle is one of the things she has survived all these decades."
He nodded at them, huffing sharply. "This may mean it’s not over yet, but—"
BOOM!
The rest of his remarks rolled back in his throat as they heard a loud explosion in the distance. All of them flinched at the thunderous explosion, even though it came from far away.
Turning their heads, their eyes dilated as their complexions paled slightly in surprise. Their brows knitted, confused at what they were seeing.
There, in the sky, was the aircraft—the same one where Nathalie was—burning, its debris falling into the ocean. Such a sight looked so familiar, just like when Penny’s chopper exploded. It was just that, this time, they were sure who the person inside was.
"What?" they blurted out.

Meanwhile, on the cliff of the hill, Hugo clenched his teeth as he lowered a bazooka. With him was Mint, who had been whining and crying that she was tranquilized. Fortunately, she woke up and realized Hugo was with her.
And since Hugo was barely alive, the two of them had proceeded to go to the mansion. After all, Penny was kind enough to leave a motorcycle for them to use.
However, as they did, they caught a chopper leaving the mansion. In situations like this, their years of experience already told them who the person in the chopper was. Well, they also had to thank Atlas for that because somehow, Atlas was connected to the communication device left in the cabin.
"Die, bitch!"
Mint shouted as Hugo managed to shoot the aircraft down in just one try. Mint had already tried once, and it exploded into the ocean.
