Chapter 175: Chapter 175 For The Family

SOPHIA’S POV

The hospital corridor still felt cold when I stepped out of the elevator, but the tension in my chest hadn’t gone away.

I had just left George’s room, and everything that happened in there kept replaying in my mind - The way he had forced my hand into Damien’s, the way he had smiled like everything was still okay. I didn’t want to think about it, but my thoughts refused to listen.

I had barely taken a few steps toward the exit when I heard Simon’s voice again.

“Did you think that little slap made you impressive?” he said from behind me. his tone was filled with mockery.

I stopped walking. My body went stiff instantly.

“Fucking bastard” my wolf whispered to me.

Slowly, I turned around to face him. Simon stood there with his hands in his pockets. His expression looked smug. The red mark on his cheek from earlier had faded slightly, but it was still visible enough to remind both of us what had happened.

“You should have just stayed quiet,” he continued, taking a step closer. “People like you should know their place. It’s embarrassing, really, watching you pretend you belong in our circle.”

My chest tightened, and I felt my fingers clench at my sides. The anger came fast inside me. I could feel it burning through me like fire, but I forced myself to stay calm. I had dealt with worse than Simon. I had endured years of silence of being treated like I didn’t matter.

“Stop talking about things you don’t understand,” I said.

Simon laughed. “Oh, I understand perfectly. A woman from a struggling family marrying into wealth and thinking she’s suddenly equal. Tell me, Sophia, how long do you think that illusion lasts? Let’s start with that family of yours. Let’s take Patricia for example. She-”

That was it.

I stepped forward without thinking. My emotions finally snapped.

“You don’t get to speak about my family like that,” I said. “You don’t know anything about them or what they’ve done for me.”

Simon’s expression hardened instantly, and before I could react, his hand shot out and he shoved me hard in the chest.

The force caught me completely off guard.

I stumbled backward. My foot missed its balance, and the next thing I knew, I was on the ground. The impact sent pain shooting through my arm. I gasped as my injured arm hit the floor first. The pain was intense, like something tearing open again.

I pressed my lips together, trying not to cry out. I could feel something warm rolling down my skin.

My wound had reopened.

Blood began to seep through the bandage. My breathing became uneven as I tried to push myself up, but the pain made it difficult to move properly. My wolf stirred inside me. She felt restless and angry, but there was nothing she could do.

Simon looked down at me with an evil smile

“Maybe that’ll teach you to stay quiet,” he said coldly.

For a moment, I just stayed there, staring at the ground. Then, slowly, I lifted my head and looked at him. There was no fear in my eyes. I made sure of that.

“You’re pathetic,” I said quietly.

His jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he turned and walked away, leaving me there on the cold hospital floor like I meant nothing.

I stayed there for a few seconds longer, gathering myself, before slowly pushing myself up. My arm throbbed with every movement, and I could feel the blood soaking through the bandage more clearly now. It hurt, but I had learned how to live with pain.

I always had.

-

By the time I got home, it was already late.

The house was quiet, but something about the silence felt off. I stepped inside slowly, closing the door behind me, and leaned against it for a moment. My arm still hurt but I ignored it.

I had bigger things on my mind.

As I walked further into the house, I noticed the lights were still on in the living room. That was unusual. Patricia usually went to bed early, especially after everything she had been dealing with lately.

Frowning slightly, I moved closer to the window.

That was when I saw it.

Outside, Patricia was getting into a car. She looked uneasy, like she didn’t want to be there. The man standing beside the car was someone I recognized immediately.

Simon’s assistant.

My stomach tightened instantly.

What was Patricia doing with him? this was weird.

Patricia said something I couldn’t hear, but the assistant just opened the car door wider, gesturing for her to get in. After a hesitating, she did.

The car door closed then it drove away.

I stood there, staring at the empty street. I was shocked. I was confused.

What just happened?

I had a strange feeling settling deep in my chest. Something wasn’t right. I couldn’t explain it, but every instinct I had was telling me that something was wrong.

Very wrong.

I shook my head, turning to my room. I stripped off my clothes and had a good shower. I made sure to take care of my skin that night. I exfoliated, showered and masked my whole body.

I needed a detox. It could help me relax
