Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56: Chapter 56 Where Is She?

DAMIEN’S POV

I sat in my office staring at my phone. The cracked screen made it hard to see clearly, but I didn’t care. I’d already ordered a replacement. Right now, all that mattered was finding Sophia.

My wolf was restless inside me. He kept snarling and snapping. He’d been like this since that phone call, since we’d heard that sound in the background.

That moan that had made my vision go red.

She was with him, doing things with him - things that should only be for us.

I pulled up the tracking app on my laptop. I’d installed it on Sophia’s phone months ago without her knowledge, back when we still lived together.

It had always worked before. I could see exactly where she was at any time. But now, the screen showed an error message. "Location unavailable. Device offline or tracking disabled."

She’d found it. Somehow, she’d discovered the app and turned it off.

I tried refreshing the page. Same error. I checked the backup tracking system I’d installed in her car. That was also offline.

Either she’d found that too or she wasn’t using her car. Maybe she was in Zade’s vehicle - in his passenger seat. Or worse, lying in his hotel room while he-

My fist slammed down on the desk before I could stop myself. My wolf was howling for blood.

I pulled out my phone and switched to video call. I pressed Sophia’s name.

The phone rang a few times. For a moment, I thought she wouldn’t answer. Then the screen connected.

All I could see was the sky. I couldn’t see her face.

"What do you want, Damien?" She sounded annoyed, like I was bothering her.

"Turn the camera around. Let me see you."

"No. What do you want?"

My wolf growled inside me. “I want to know where you are. What you’re doing."

"What business of yours is it?”

She was right. Goddess, I was acting like a love sick teenager. What the hell is wrong with me?

I’m an Alpha, for goddess sake. I shouldn’t be losing control like this.

“You’re still my wife,” I said through gritted teeth. I raised my voice. "What you do is absolutely my business."

"I’m not your wife." Her voice stayed calm. That infuriated me more than if she’d yelled back. "We’re separated. We’re getting divorced. What I do is none of your business, Damien."

"Not while you’re still legally married to me. Not while Ashley still needs her mother to act with some sense of dignity and responsibility."

"Don’t you dare bring Ashley into this. Don’t you dare use our daughter to control me."

The camera moved again. I caught a glimpse of a wall but still not her face. She was deliberately keeping herself off screen. She was hiding from me.

My wolf howled at the rejection.

I took in a deep breath.

"We need to talk in person” I told her. “There are things we need to sort out.”

“Like?”

“Like custody arrangements."

"We have lawyers for that. That’s what lawyers are for."

"We need to meet. We can talk about Ashley, about what’s best for her. We have to do what’s best for our family.”

"Really? Now, you care?” 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

“What do you-?”

“And Damien? Stop pretending you don’t know I was reassigned to Millbrook Falls. Stop acting like you’re not the one who made it happen. I know you pulled strings. I know you got me transferred to punish me for standing up to you. So don’t insult my intelligence by playing innocent."

I was confused. What the hell was she talking about?

Before I could say another word, she hung up.

I tried calling back. It went straight to voicemail.

Fuck.

I needed to see her. My wolf was dying to see her as well.

The rest of the day dragged. I couldn’t focus on work. I couldn’t focus on anything except Sophia and where she was and who she was with. By evening, I’d made my decision. I called Jake.

"I need Sophia’s work address."

"Okay Alpha.”

The text came through five minutes later. It was too late to go there now.

I’d go there tomorrow. I’d see her face to face. I’d make her understand that she couldn’t just run away from our marriage and from me.

My wolf settled slightly at the plan. We’d see our mate tomorrow. We’d remind her where she belonged.

The next morning, I went to the hospital. The receptionist looked up when she saw me.

She bowed “Alpha”

"I’m looking for Dr. Sophia. I need to speak with her."
