Chapter 202
“Pleased with yourself?” I asked.
She nodded, eyes gleaming. “I gave them a fairytale. Everyone believed it.”
1 gave a dry, skeptical smile. “You’re certain?”
She scowled. “Of course. Some reporters even hinted at follow-up interviews. And when that happens, you won’t be able to stop me
from telling them the whole story including your mother and the pregnancy.”
Her voice dipped with venom. “Honestly, I was waiting to say it today. You really ruined my moment.”
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “And you think dragging your future mother-in-law through the mud helps you? Or the
merger?”
“I’ll find proof,” she snapped, stepping closer. “She’s going to pay for what she did.”
Then she spun on her heel and marched toward the elevators, leaving behind a trail of tension and the promise of chaos.
My head began to throb. How had I ever loved her? Was she always this volatile, or had I simply been too blind to notice?
Exhaling slowly, I made my way to my private elevator and returned to my office. I needed to reset, shake off the farce I’d just endured, and focus on real work.
The elevator doors opened, and I came to an abrupt halt. Romilly stood near the receptionist’s desk.
“Ms. Thorne?” My brows lifted. “You here to see me?”
She turned around, flashing a bright grin. “I am.” She raised a stack of papers in her hand. “There’s something we need to talk
about.”
I led her into my office, closed the door, and activated the jamming devices. Whatever she ha
overheard.
She didn’t sit just watched me from across the desk as I settled in.

“We found something… strange,” she began. “Nothing concrete yet, but Ami told me to let you know.”
“She couldn’t text?”
Romilly chuckled nervously. “She could, but it’s a long story to fit into a message.”
“Then just tell me.”

“Okay.” She straightened. “Our team followed up on the people accusing Pink Dolphin Entertainment of stealing their work. made contact well, sort of.”
I frowned. “What does ‘sort of’ mean?”
“One of the guys Ming agreed to talk. We tried to arrange a recorded interview, but then he suddenly stopped replying. We assumed
it was a dead end, but this morning, his friend Wong reached out. Wong said Ming was murdered two nights ago.”
Her voice lowered. “He witnessed it happen. He said the people who killed Ming were Triad members and that they did it to silence
him.”
A chill crept down my spine. “So you think the Triad is connected to Pink Dolphin?”
She nodded. “That’s our theory. Ming’s only crime was speaking out.”
“But it’s still just speculation,” I pointed out.
“True,” she admitted, “but Wong’s determined. He’s laying low, but he promised to contact us again if he learns anything useful.”
A faint smile touched my lips. It wasn’t solid evidence, but it was something the first real lead we’d had.
“Thanks, Romilly. Keep me updated.”
She gave a cocky grin. “Will do, boss.” Then she turned and walked out, leaving behind a sliver of hope.
I stared at the closed door for a moment before grabbing my phone and texting Lazaro with the update. After that, I forced myself back into CEO mode, opening my laptop and burying myself in work.
A few hours passed without incident. Then my phone rang Manny.
“Hey, my friend!” he greeted, far too cheerful.
I sighed. “What now?”
“You haven’t checked the news, have you?” id
“No. Should I?”
“Oh, absolutely. I just sent you a link.”
A notification buzzed in. I opened the article and froze.
