Chapter 210
THERON POV
Heat surged through my veins like molten steel as I stared through the two-way mirror at Kincade Thayer and Amaris. He was lying I knew it in my gut. But Ami didn’t deny knowing him. She didn’t argue that she had made deliveries to him. Still, the look on her face told me everything. Her hands were balled into fists, her expression twisted with revulsion. It was as if she was only just now realizing the full extent of what this man had been involved in and who he had really worked for.
“I’m going in.” I muttered, reaching for the handle.
“Wait,” Lazaro said, grabbing my arm.
I stopped, barely restraining myself. “She’s clearly blindsided. She doesn’t even understand what he’s talking about.”
“But the photos say otherwise,” he replied, giving me a tight-lipped smirk.
I dropped my hand from the door and dragged my palm over my face. “That’s what makes this worse. I can’t reconcile what I see
with what I know about her.”
I turned my attention back to the mirror, zeroing in on Ami. Her eyes shimmered with tears, and the tightness in my chest deepened. I clenched my fists and gave Lazaro a look. “One minute. If Thayer doesn’t say anything useful in sixty seconds, I’m
pulling her out of there.”
He didn’t argue. Just nodded, jaw clenched. He knew not to push me right now.
Inside the room, Thayer leaned forward. “Now that I think about it… you’re lying. You knew exactly what was going on. You already had your little hacking skills back then, didn’t you?”.
He fixed his gaze on Ami. “When I first spoke to your father, he offered you up as a tool to get the data Mrs. Lockhart and I needed. So tell me did you steal those records yourself? I’d wager you did.”
“Liar,” someone muttered behind us. One of the techs, eyes locked on the monitor feed.
Lazaro stepped toward him. “Which part?”
“Hard to say,” the guy replied, eyes still on the screen. “But his pupils spiked the second he accused her.”
Inside, Ami looked ready to explode. “I didn’t steal anything,” she bit out. “My father would never ask me to do that.”
Thayer smirked and pointed to the images on the table. “Deny it all you want. The evidence speaks for itself.”
That was enough. I flung the door open and strode into the room, not bothering to hide the fury in my eyes. “We’re done here.” I fixed Thayer with a hard stare before reaching for Ami’s hand.

Chapter 210
She didn’t resist, though her fingers were ice cold and trembling in mine as I led for into the hallway..
“He’s lying. You know that, right?” she whispered. Voice quivering
I nodded. “We know at least part of what he said isn’t true. But what’s certain is that he was working for my mother his bank
records confirmed it.”
“I didn’t know that. I barely knew the guy…”
I believed her I wanted to believe her. But I also couldn’t afford to overlook anything. Not with Zinnia out there, ready to weaponize even the smallest inconsistency.
I guided her into one of the vacant offices and gestured to the couch. “Please just wait here. I’ll be back soon.”
“Theron.” She caught my sleeve, eyes searching mine. “You believe me?”
A lump formed in my throat. “I do,” I murmured, brushing a kiss to the top of her head. “Stay here.”
I closed the door behind me before she could say another word one more plea might’ve been all it took to throw me off course.
Back in the interrogation room, Lazaro was still questioning Thayer, trying to wring something useful out of him. I didn’t need to hear a word to know he hadn’t gotten what he wanted his face said it all.
I motioned him out. “Let’s talk somewhere else.”
