Chapter 217
“What are you doing here?” I demanded, arms crossed tightly over my chest.
Renzo lifted a brow, amused. What do people usually do at airports?”
“Don’t play with me, Renzo. What are you doing here?” I tried to level him with a stern look, but he only chuckled.
“I’m headed to Hong Kong,” he said easily. “After a brief chat, your friend mentioned you were invited too.”
My jaw tensed. It wasn’t hard to guess Romilly had bumped into him. Whether his presence was a blessing or a curse, I hadn’t yet decided.
Renzo’s gaze slid to Rex, his smile sharpening. “And you are?”
Rex stood up and cleared his throat. “Rex McCrae. I’m part of Ami’s team. We’ve worked together on”
“I don’t need your resume, Mr. McCrae,” Renzo interrupted coolly, turning back to me. “Now, tell me why are you sitting here in the waiting area?”
One eyebrow arched. “Waiting for a plane, obviously.”
His expression shifted, a note of tension creeping in. “Which plane?”
The tone of his voice set something twisting uneasily in my stomach.
There was only one flight to Hong Kong at this hour. I’d assumed we were all on it until now. My fingers fumbled for the tickets,
and I pulled them from my purse with a tentative smile.
“Mr. Chun arranged these…”
Renzo snatched the tickets from my hand and examined them. His face went pale, Jaw clenched. “You’re not getting on that plane,”
he said flatly.
My brows drew together. “And why not?”
His eyes met mine, hard and unwavering. “Because you’re coming with me.” He turned toward Rex with a curt nod. “Mr. McCrae, you
won’t be joining us.”
My mouth opened, fury rising like steam. I had a half-dozen words for him, none polite, but he was already dialing his phone.
“You don’t get to order me around,” I hissed. “And what do you mean Rex isn’t coming with us?”
Renzo raised a hand and pressed a finger to my lips, silencing me mid-rant. I slapped it away, fists balled, weighing the pros and cons of punching him then and there. He ignored me, ended his call, and grabbed my hand.

Chapter 217
“Let’s go.
“Not until you tell me what the hell is going on. I planted my feet, refusing to budge.
His jaw tensed as he glanced at Rex, who stood frozen, a puzzled look etched across his face.
Renzo faced him once more, meant what I said. Go home. Your luggage will be delivered to you in a few hours.”
My breath caught. “Explain,” I growled.
“Not here,” he replied, already tugging me toward a side exit.
Half-confused, half-curious, I let him guide me through a corridor meant for airport staff. It was quiet. Too quiet.
“I don’t think we’re supposed to be here,” I muttered.
Renzo shot me a look over his shoulder, a smirk curling his lips. “No shit.” He tried a series of doors until one clicked open. Inside: two tables, a few chairs, closed cabinets. Nothing remarkable.
“Get in,” he said lowly.
I hesitated.
He sighed. “You want answers or not?”
Grinding my teeth, I stepped in.
