Please Me Daddy (Gracie) novel Chapter 111

**Across Distant Skies Lies Hope Waiting To Be Found by Kade Rowan Flint 111**

“Tell me, Grace, do you have feelings for him?”

Grace

From the very beginning, I had always known that Charles was a wild card. His actions were often so unpredictable that they defied all logic, leaving even the most rational individuals scratching their heads. Yet, despite the chaos he often brought, there was one undeniable truth: Charles was a coward at heart. He lacked the courage to stand firm when it mattered most. So, I found myself questioning, what could possibly compel him to come all this way when Apollo had already issued him a warning?

The confusion churned within me.

My heart pounded furiously as I hurried down the steps of the elevator, my mind a whirlwind of thoughts that I struggled to organize. I barely noticed the people around me, their faces blurring into a meaningless backdrop. Suddenly, I collided with someone, jolting me from my reverie.

“Hey!” the stranger exclaimed, clearly taken aback.

I quickly lowered my head, embarrassment flooding my cheeks. “Sorry,” I mumbled, urgency propelling me toward the entrance.

Curious glances followed me, whispers swirling in the air like a storm. I could feel their judgment, but I brushed it aside. I had no intention of allowing Charles to create a scene here, not when I was so close to losing control.

When I finally reached the front entrance, my breath caught in my throat. There he stood, as if he owned the entire place, exuding an air of confidence that was both infuriating and captivating.

In his hands, he clutched a bouquet of flowers, and he was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit that accentuated his features. Of course, he looked effortlessly handsome. Even now, he possessed that magnetic charm that drew people in without him even trying.

As several women passed him, they slowed their pace, casting flirtatious glances his way. One of them leaned toward her friend and whispered, “Oh my god, he’s so hot.”

I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy for them. It was cruelly ironic, really. Charles had that kind of face that could make any woman’s heart race, yet how could I break the news to them that the object of their admiration was completely uninterested? His affections lay elsewhere, in the opposite gender.

My gaze finally met his, and for a fleeting moment, I saw a flicker of recognition in his eyes. His lips curled into a smirk, and he raised an eyebrow, taking me in from head to toe before breaking into a full smile.

He waved his hand enthusiastically, like a child spotting their favorite toy in a store. “Grace, I’m here!”

His voice rang out across the lobby, drawing the attention of everyone present.

I felt my heart race, my fists clenching tightly, as whispers began to ripple through the crowd.

“What’s happening over there?”

“Does she know him?”

“I think I’ve seen her with the boss and River. What’s so special about her? Why are all the attractive men always around her?”

I tuned them out, their voices fading into a dull hum as I marched straight toward Charles.

He opened his mouth to speak, but I didn’t give him the chance.

I seized his hand and hissed quietly, “Follow me,” pulling him away from the prying eyes of the crowd before he could draw even more attention.

The cool breeze hit my face the moment we stepped outside the company, and I didn’t even spare Charles a glance. I kept my focus on the street ahead, scanning for a place to escape the tension. My eyes landed on a quaint little café across the road.

“Charles,” I said, my voice steady but firm, “I have no idea what’s going on with you, but please, just leave me alone. I tolerated your antics before, but this is getting out of hand. You’re stalking me, and it feels like harassment.”

“Harassment? How can I harass my fiancée?” he protested, confusion etched on his face.

A frown creased my brow. The way he addressed me made my stomach churn. I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. “I think you need to go back to school.”

“Huh?” he muttered, clearly baffled.

“Because you don’t seem to grasp simple statements,” I snapped. “I clearly told you we were over, right? I want nothing to do with you again. For heaven’s sake, Charles, aren’t you tired? It’s been over a month now. If you don’t want to live your life, then let me live mine. I’m busy as it is. I don’t have time for your games. If you didn’t understand what I said before, let me clarify—Charles, we are over. I want nothing to do with you.”

“Even if you were the last man on earth, I would prefer to live a life of solitude. If we were trapped in a place with no way out, I would rather end my own life than share a space with you. If someone held a gun to my head and demanded I marry you, I would simply tell them to pull the trigger.”

Each word sliced through him like a dagger, and I could see the pain etched on his face. But I wasn’t trying to be kind; he had never shown me kindness. When his family had turned against me, he had stood idly by, a coward in the face of adversity. I wanted nothing to do with someone so weak.

“I don’t want to see you again, Charles. Goodbye,” I said coldly, pushing my chair back to stand. But before I could take a step, he grabbed my wrist, his grip firm and unyielding.

“It’s because of him, isn’t it?” he blurted out, his face flushing with anger.

I halted, confusion swirling within me. “What?”

His face reddened further, his hold tightening. “It’s because of your boss that you’re acting this way. Is that why you’re dressed like this? Tell me, Grace, do you like him?”
