Please Me Daddy (Gracie) novel Chapter 13

**Across Distant Skies Lies Hope Waiting To Be Found by Kade Rowan Flint**

**CONTENT: Slap**

Gracia.

“What did you just say?” Wyatt exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief as if a light had suddenly been switched on in his mind.

“I… I must have misheard you,” Eleanor said slowly, her brows knitting together in confusion. “Gracia, did you just say this jerk is gay? I think what you meant to say was that he’s a jerk, not—”

“No.” I interrupted, my voice tinged with bitterness. “You heard me right.”

With a newfound determination, I squared my shoulders and faced them fully, my voice rising to ensure that everyone present could hear the truth.

“The man I was supposed to marry in just a few days has a preference for men. And I caught him—” I gestured toward Mark, avoiding his gaze entirely, “in bed with another man, making all sorts of noises.”

A low murmur rippled through the crowd, someone muttering, “Oh, hell. Plot twist.”

Eleanor’s face contorted with disbelief and outrage. “So, you’re telling me,” she said, her voice dangerously low, “that Charles deceived you about his orientation and still planned to marry you?”

I sighed heavily, nodding in confirmation. “Yes, he—”

But before I could finish my thought, Eleanor was already airborne.

She launched herself across the room with the precision of a seasoned athlete and the fury of a tempest. Charles yelped, but it was far too late. They collided in a whirlwind of limbs and fury.

SLAP.

The sound echoed through the boutique like the crack of thunder.

“Eleanor!” I gasped, horrified.

SLAP. SLAP.

“You manipulative piece of trash!” Eleanor shouted between strikes. “You deceitful, gaslighting—”

I rushed forward, desperate to pull her away, but it felt like trying to halt a hurricane in its path.

“Eleanor, stop! Please, stop!”

I turned to Wyatt, silently pleading for his assistance, only to freeze in shock. He wasn’t trying to separate Eleanor; instead, he had turned his attention to Mark.

In the most polite and apologetic tone I had ever heard from someone on the brink of violence, he said, “I don’t usually do this, but—”

WHAM.

One punch, perfectly aimed at Mark’s jaw.

Mark staggered back, utterly blindsided. “Ow, what the hell?!”

Wyatt rolled his shoulder as if he had been waiting for this moment for ages. “You deserved that, jerk.”

I stood there, utterly dumbfounded, as the boutique descended into chaos—a two-on-two street fight between my best friends and my ex-fiancé along with his unfortunate partner.

Okay.

Maybe confronting them here wasn’t the most brilliant idea after all.

Crap.

The police officer rubbed his temples, his expression a mixture of annoyance and regret for having to deal with this mess.

“So, let me get this straight,” he said slowly, gesturing toward the man with the bruised face and swollen lip, “this is your fiancé?”

He pointed directly at Charles, who was slumped in the corner of the interrogation room, looking as if he had just been dealt a heavy dose of karma.

Eleanor slammed her palm down on the metal table. “Ex-fiancé!”

Wyatt gently pulled her back into her seat, casting an apologetic glance at the officer. “Sorry. Emotions are a little high right now.”

The officer sighed, already looking worn out. “Right. Ex-fiancé.”

I nodded in agreement. “Yes.”

“And you caught your ex-fiancé just days before your wedding… in bed with this man?”

He gestured toward Mark, who was gingerly holding an ice pack against his face.

“Exactly. That’s accurate.”

And so here we were, stuck in a police station because, well, Eleanor and Wyatt had decided to unleash their pent-up frustrations on Charles and Mark.

Honestly, I was still reeling from how brutally Wyatt had acted. I expected Eleanor to go all out; she had always been the fiery one. But Wyatt? He was the calm, gentle soul among us.

Suddenly, Mark sprang to his feet, his voice rising defiantly. “I’m not going to let this slide! You assaulted us! You’re all going to regret what you did to me!”

Eleanor shot up as well. “Try me, you smug, deceitful bastard! I’ll cut off your balls and serve them to you like cereal!”

“Sit down!” the officer barked, slamming his file shut. “This is a police station, not a street fight!”

I grasped Eleanor’s wrist and whispered urgently, “Sit.”

She grunted in response but complied, collapsing back into her chair.

The officer exhaled deeply, clearly reconsidering his life choices. “Look, Miss, I understand your anger, but you can’t just attack people. That’s assault.”

Mark crossed his arms triumphantly. “Exactly. Thank you. It is assault—”

She flung open the car door. Wyatt didn’t give me a chance to object; he gently ushered me inside.

“Wait—what are you doing?” I asked, glancing between them in surprise.

“What do you think I’m doing?” Eleanor said, slamming the door behind her as she climbed in. “There’s no way I’m letting my best friend sleep on the streets like some tragic heroine from a sad indie film.”

I stared at her, bewildered. “How do you even know I have nowhere to go?”

She shot me a knowing look. “Because I know your parents. They’re monsters, remember? You break things off with Charles, and they kick you out. It sounds exactly like something they would do.”

I looked away, feeling the weight of her words. “But—”

“And let’s be real,” she continued, “you don’t have any money yet, and you’re starting your new job tomorrow. So yes, you’re staying with us.”

She wasn’t wrong. I had just landed my dream job a few days ago, and I was supposed to start tomorrow. I turned to Wyatt, hoping for some support, but he merely offered me that kind, encouraging look I knew all too well.

“I don’t want to be a burden,” I mumbled.

As if reading my mind, Eleanor chimed in, “You won’t be. In fact, this is perfect. We’ve been needing someone to help out with the twins. You’re the ideal person for the job. We trust you, and the kids adore you.”

A warmth spread through my chest. Maybe, just maybe, I wasn’t as unlucky as I thought.

“Okay, I’ll stay. But only until I’m financially stable enough to move out.”

“Don’t rush,” Eleanor said, grinning widely. “You’ve got time.”

“Thank you.”

They both smiled, climbing into the front seats.

As the car roared to life and pulled away from the station, I gazed out the window. The city appeared almost serene from this vantage point. My eyelids grew heavy, and I let them drift shut.

I just wanted to forget it all.
