Please Me Daddy (Gracie) novel Chapter 195

My lips curved instinctively, but there was nothing gentle or polite about that smile. It was cold, filled with anger that I was barely holding back.

This wasn’t a random act.

The killer hadn’t just wanted Hannah dead. She wanted Grace and me to be there. She wanted us to see it. She wanted to make a statement, to show me that she could reach anything I cared about if she wanted to.

She thought she was clever. She thought she had calculated everything perfectly, but she was wrong.

Before today, it was my company. Losing millions was one thing. I could recover from that easily. But involving Grace, hurting the woman I loved, and killing an innocent child who had done nothing wrong, that changed everything. This wasn’t just business anymore. This was personal.

And I was going to make her regret it. It would be the worst decision she had ever made.

Genesis stood there quietly, watching my face. After a moment, she swallowed and spoke again.

“Is Grace okay?” she asked. “What did the doctor say?”

Before I could answer her, movement in the distance caught my attention. I lifted my gaze down the hallway and saw Ryan’s mother rushing toward us, her face pale and frantic, and her steps hurried. Almost at the same time, from the opposite end of the hallway, I saw my own father approaching, walking quickly with my cousin beside him, their expressions grim and alert.

I frowned as I watched them approach.

I didn’t understand why the Jones family was even here in the first place. When Grace fainted, Ryan’s mother had been so shaken that she nearly collapsed herself, and if her son hadn’t been there to support her and guide her into a nearby room, she would have gone down as well. Yet even then, she hadn’t stayed away for more than thirty minutes before returning, as if seeing Grace was the only thing that mattered.

What confused me even more was my father’s presence. I had no idea how he found out so quickly that Grace had collapsed and was unconscious. The news hadn’t even had time to spread properly, and yet here he was.

The moment both sides reached the door to Grace’s hospital room, I stepped forward and positioned myself directly in front of it, my body blocking the entrance without hesitation. I slid my hands into my pockets and looked at them coldly, the way one might look down at two small animals making noise.

My father scoffed, straightening his back as if asserting authority came naturally to him.

“What right? She is my daughter–in–law. I can come whenever I want.”

Ryan’s mother looked at me for a brief moment, before turning back to my father with clear disgust written all over her face.

“Daughter–in–law my ass,” she said without hesitation. “My daughter will never be part of your family.” The hallway went completely still.

Everyone froze at those words. Even I froze, my gaze snapping back to her, my eyebrow lifting slowly as I tried to process what she had just said. My father’s eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth falling open slightly before he spoke again.

“Did you just say… your daughter?” he asked. “Are you saying my daughter–in–law is your daughter?”
