Pursuing My Rejected Luna novel Skye Chapter 212
Chapter 212
Skve
Heats crest and recede in waves-wolves know this, the biology of it. But between the waves there are moments of clarity, brief and real and mine.
When my eyes crack open to find the room is dark, the only light seeping through the cracked door of the en suite, and both my mates snoring softly, still wrapped around me like koalas clinging to a eucalyptus tree, I realize this is one of them.
I attempt to sit up, gingerly shifting my weight not to wake them up. Both of them respond to the movement anyway—the immediate attentiveness of two wolves completely attuned to me.The minute they’re eyes are on me, words rise to the surface and suddenly, it’s imperative that I say them while I still can.
“Wha-are you okay? What do you need?” Jaxon beats me to the actual speaking part.
“I need you both to know something,” I say before the next wave comes and the words slip away.
“What is it, Moonbeam?” Nico’s hands flutter around me like he’s convinced I’m hurt and he can’t find the source. “Another wave?”
“I’m okay, for now. But I need you to understand something. What I’m about to ask for-the marking, everything -that’s not the heat talking.” I look at Jaxon first. “I’ve been wanting to ask you for weeks. I knew what I wanted before tonight. The heat is just-” I search for the word. “It made it easier to say out loud.”
“I know,” Jaxon says. Something in his expression that I don’t have a name for yet but that belongs to the new version of him. “I’ve known for a while.”
“How?”
“Because I know you,” he smiles, tired but real. His thumb caresses my cheekbone and the contact has the heat unfurling in my belly. “And the way you’ve been looking at me when you think I’m not looking isn’t the heat. That’s been there for a while.”
Nicolai puts his hand at the back of my neck. “I know too,” he says quietly. “I’ve been watching you work up to it.”
“You didn’t say anything.”
“It wasn’t mine to say.” He presses his lips to my temple. “Ask for what you want, Skye.”
I turn to Jaxon. “Mark me,” I say.
He stills. Not with hesitation. With the look of someone receiving a gift he can’t believe he’s getting-taking a moment to just soak it in before acting. Then he moves.
He lifts me to straddle him, our chests pressed together until there’s no space between us. His cock is rock solid and pressed against my belly. He sucks in a sharp breath then releases a moan as I stroke him a few times before lifting up and sinking down on him until he’s as deep as he can go.
Nico presses up behind me, sweeping my hair aside and and trailing kisses down my neck and shoulder. We just exist there for a minute, reveling in the connection. Then Jaxon puts his hands on my face–both of them, tilting me slightly, looking at me with the expression he has now that he didn’t have three years ago. Not trapped. Not afraid of what this means. Something open and certain and entirely his.
“I should have done this the first time,” he says, a haunted look in his eyes.

“Jaxon-”
et me say it.”His thumbs trace my cheekbones again. “I should have done this the first time. I know why I didn’t. It doesn’t matter anymore.” He holds my gaze and doesn’t let go. “You’re mine. You’ve been mine since the beginning and I was too afraid of what that meant to accept it. I’ll never make that mistake again.”
His mouth finds the curve of my shoulder. I feel the heat of his breath first. Then the press of his lips. Then-
The bite.
And the thing that happens at the bite is not pain-or it is, briefly, and then the bond does what bonds do when they’re completed: it deepens. Expands. The bond becoming something with full roots, permanent, settled into me in a way that won’t shift.
He chose me. Finally, completely, he chose me. That knowledge and the pleasure his bite triggers has me shattering around him. And I make a sound I’ve never made before, one of pure bliss and overwhelming need at the same time.
Jaxon pulls back and looks at me and his expression is-I’ve never seen that expression before on anyone. Like a man who has just done the thing he should have done years ago and understands both what it cost to wait and that he’s here now and those two truths can coexist.
Then Nicolai. His hand tightens at my back. He doesn’t wait long-doesn’t make me ask again, knows I meant at the same time as close as possible, equal, no one first and no one second.
His bite lands on the other side, the one he’s already marked as his. But the outcome is the same, a deep sense of completion and a mind-searing orgasm. Both of their marks on me. Both of them mine.
But even knowing their marks tie them to forever is not enough for my wolf. She needs our mark on them both in réturn. And she doesn’t hesitate to strike.
Jaxon first, because he gave me something tonight that deserves to be reciprocated. Then Nicolai, because even though he already wears my mark, he will always be my mate and the mark is a reminder that what has been true for nearly a year continues to be true and will be forever.
Both of them marked. Both of them mine. All of us bound in every way that matters.
My heat chooses that moment to flare again and Nicolai pulls me off of Jaxon. But I’m not empty for long. He lays on his back, lowering me onto his erect shaft, filling me completely.
“Take what you need, Moonbeam.” He encourages, helping me ride him.
Much later, after he and Jaxon have both taken me again and I’ve lost count of how many orgasms I’ve had, the heat finally recedes once more. Jaxon is quiet for a long moment. I can feel him thinking, his thoughts loud even in his silence.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to get here.” He finally utters. Low but certain.
It’s not an apology that asks for something in return-not a version that requires me to say it’s okay or I forgive you or anything that’s about his absolution. Just; a’man, stating a fact, to the woman who was on the other end of the time it took.
“You’re here now,” I say instead.
He holds my gaze, and what he sees there seems to settle something in him. He knows it’s the whole answer. It has always been the whole answer.

I fall asleep between them again. There’s no moment of decision about it-just the heat finally releasing its grip enough that sleep becomes possible, and with both of them there, I feel safe enough to let it take me.
Nicolai’s arm around me. Jaxon’s hand at my back. Both bonds blanketing me in warmth. Both their marks are present on my skin. And for the first time in my adult life-not since before the marriage, not since before I learned what it felt like to wait to be chosen-there is nothing underneath the sleep except peace.
Just peace.
Just home.
Just this.
