Pursuing My Rejected Luna novel Skye Chapter 99
Chapter 99
Nicolai
I make it to my office before the control snaps completely. Sink into my chair and press my hands to my
face. This is torture.
Having her here. Under my roof. So close I can see her every day but can’t have her. Watching her belly grow with another man’s child while knowing I’d raise that boy as my own without hesitation if she’d let
Feeling things I have no right to feel for a woman who just escaped a terrible marriage. But no matter how inappropriate my feelings are, my aching cock definitely did not get the message. The imprint of my zipper is becoming a permanent tattoo, and if I don’t get some relief soon, I’m going to explode.
I run my hand over my crotch and squeeze, hoping the pressure will ease the ache but instead, it only makes the throbbing worse. I feel like an ass but it doesn’t stop me from unzipping my pants and pulling my cock out. The relief is immediate and I can’t help but moan.
Thoughts of Skye in the tiny sleep shorts I accidentally caught her in the other day fill my mind as I give my thick shaft a few firm strokes. They hugged her round ass perfectly and I’d had to force myself not to imagine what it would feel like to sink my fingers into her full hips while I thrust between her cheeks until I came all over her.
But then she’d turned around and her amazing tits were practically spilling out of the skin tight tank top she wore. It was fucking cruel not to be able to yank her top down and suck one taut nipple into my mouth and tease her until she was screaming my name.
I stroke myself harder and thrust faster as the images flood my mind. It’s a poor substitute for what it would feel like to sink into Skye’s tight pussy and fuck her for real but I’m so on edge, it’s enough to get
me there.
I spill into my hand, groaning her name, just as there’s a knock on the door. I know who it’ll be and it wouldn’t be the first time he’s walked in on me in the middle of getting off, alone or otherwise. But I do us both a favor and clean myself up, tucking my spent cock away before I invite him in.
“Come in,” I say without looking up, pretending to look busy.
“Whatcha doin’?” I can hear the cocky smirk in Dimitri’s voice.
“A man of your intellect surely knows what a man working in his own office looks like, Dimitri.” I snark
back.
“You were working something,” he chuckles. “But it wasn’t those papers you’re staring at.”
He walks over and taps his finger on the top page, pointing out that it’s upside down. I finally meet his eyes with a raised eyebrow, daring him to comment on it. True to character, he completely ignores the warning.
“I’m surprised to find you alone.” He goads. “It’s been a while since you’ve had me bring you a woman to

see to your ‘needs.’ Not since a certain brunette sent a letter asking for your help, if I’m not mistaken.”
I don’t bother with words, responding with a deep, rumbling growl instead. I would never disrespect Skye that way and he knows it.
“You’re in love with her.” It’s not a question and I don’t bother denying it.
“Yes.”
“And she knows?”
“She suspects.” I haven’t exactly hidden the fact though I haven’t said the words outright.
“And Vale?” Dimitri doesn’t dance around the elephant in the room.
“Probably figures it out every time he visits and sees how I look at her.” I run a hand through my hair. “I’m trying to keep my distance, Dimitri. I’m trying to let her heal. But having her here, under my roof… it’s killing me.”
Dimitri looks pensive for a moment, like I;m a particularly complex puzzle he’s trying to solve. Which is interesting because the man usually knows what I;m thinking before I do.
“The baby isn’t a barrier for you, is it? Vale’s son. You’d raise him as your own if she’d let you.”
“In a heartbeat,” I admit.
But the truth is, it could happen. Skye is angry right now but anger fades. And they share a child.
Dimitri’s expression softens. Then you let her go. Because loving someone means wanting what’s best for them. Even if that’s not you.”
He’s right. Of course he’s right. But the thought of Skye choosing Jaxon-going back to him, giving him another chance-makes my wolf howl with denial.
“I don’t think I could watch that,’ I admit.
“Then pray she chooses you,” Dimitri says. “And in the meantime, keep being exactly what you’ve been- patient, protective, present. Let her see what real love looks like.”
He stands to leave, pauses at the door.
“For what it’s worth, Nic? My money’s on you.”
After he leaves, I sit for a long time thinking about Skye. About the way she smiled when she told me the baby’s name. About the way she looks at me sometimes when she thinks I’m not watching. And about the possibility-terrifying and exhilarating-that she might feel the same way I do.
I pull out my phone and open the message Jaxon sent earlier.
Take care of her. Please.
I will. You have my word.
I meant every word of that promise. I will take care of Skye. Protect her. Keep her safe.
And if she lets me, I’ll give her everything she deserves. Everything Vale never did. A real partnership. Genuine love. The kind of life where she never has to be afraid or controlled or diminished.
But first, she needs to heal. And I need to be patient.
Even if the waiting is killing me.
