ictoria thought for a moment, then gave a safer answer. “About ninety percent.”

In truth, she was completely sure. The last time Jackson had come, she had already checked him. His leg injury wasn’t old. There was still a very good chance he could recover.
Those so–called famous doctors had all said it couldn’t be treated because they stuck too closely to standard methods. But she had her own way of doing things.
As long as someone was still breathing, she could pull them back from the edge of death.
‘Ninety percent?” Daisy and Hector looked at each other in surprise. “Alright. We respect your choice.
At Saturday’s party, if Darell and Julia really suggest that you marry Jackson in Angelica’s place, and you agree, your father and I won’t object.”
Victoria slipped her arm through Daisy’s and leaned close to her. “How are you two so understanding? I don’t think anyone lse in the world is like you.”
Daisy laughed, clearly amused. She reached out and tapped Victoria lightly on the nose. “That’s because you’re my precious laughter.”
Then you’re my precious mommy,” Victoria said with a smile.
Of course, my precious,” Daisy replied gently.
Watching them, Hector smiled, feeling at peace. It and been a long time since he’d seen Daisy laugh so genuinely, straight rom the heart.
At that moment, he truly felt that Victoria’s arrival was a gift from heaven.
After breakfast, Daisy glanced at the time. It was still early, and most of the shops outside probably hadn’t opened yet.
she said, “Victoria, you came back late yesterday, so you didn’t get to look around the estate. Why don’t you walk around this norning and get familiar with the place? I’ll take you shopping for clothes later.”
Victoria nodded. “Sure. I’ll just have a look around by myself.”
The freeze–dried spiders she had brought for her three little snakes were almost gone. She wanted to find a few good spots n the estate where they could roam and hunt on their own.
Daisy hesitated. “Do you want me to go with you?”
No need, Mom.” Victoria shook her head.
‘Alright. Then your father and I will start preparing your welcome party,” Daisy said.
The Binder family estate had three villas for living. The one Daisy and Hector stayed in was on the east side. The west–side villa belonged to Darell’s family.
Calvin lived in the quiet villa at the back, on the south side. It suited him better.
The villa Victoria had seen yesterday, near the front, was mainly used for family gatherings and entertaining guests.

Mom and Dad only agreed to bring you back so you could marry Jackson in my place. You’re just a country girl. You should be thankful for a chance to change your life,
Instead, you keep picking, fights with me. And you even went and called forse Hector and Aunt Daisy your parents. Look at how awkward things are now?
She gave a small, mocking laugh. “Don’t tell me you really think they like you read that’s why they accepted you
It’s just because you’re a Winder by blood. Grandpa might give you a share of the inheritance someday, and that’s all”
Victoria didn’t respond. Angelica kept going, her tone sharper, ‘Do you even know what this place is?
This is where the Kinder kids study, I’ve had top private tutors here since I was little. I’ve learned all kinds of skills. I can speak several foreign languages fluently
She looked Victoria up and down. “What about you? How many of those skills do you have? Probably none, right? Such a pity. At your age, it’s already too late to start learning
She paused, then smiled faintly. “But that’s fine. You know how to farm, wash clothes, and cook. I don’t know any of that. I’ll have to learn from you someday
Without a word, Victoria raised her hand and slapped Angelica.
The strike came so suddenly that Angelica couldn’t react. She was knocked straight to the ground.
She lay there, staring up at Victoria, her eyes full of anger and disbelief.

Chapter 13

Just as she was about to speak, she noticed Curtis walking over in the distance. Instantly, she covered her face, her eyes turning red as if she’d been deeply wronged.
Seeing this, Curtis rushed over, his face dark with anger. He crouched beside her and helped her up. “Angelica, what happened?”
Angelica kept her hand over her face, her voice trembling, “I just asked Victoria if she wanted to learn anything, I said I could teach her. I don’t know why she suddenly slapped me
Victoria flexed her fingers and shook her hand slightly. “You don’t know? It’s because you deserved it.”
Curtis helped Angelica to her feet, then shot Victoria a cold glare. “You actually dared to hit Angelica. She’s never been bullied since she was a child.
“You’ve been targeting her with your words again and again, and now you’ve raised your hand against her. I’ll teach you a lesson today.”
A faint smile curled at Angelica’s lips.
Curtis was right. Ever since they were young, anyone who dared to bully Angelica would be beaten badly by him. It didn’t matter if they were boys or girls.
She believed Victoria would pay for that slap.
But before Curtis could even get close, Victoria kicked him sharply in the knee. He stumbled and dropped straight to the ground, landing on his hands and knees in front of her.
Before he could react, Victoria stepped down on one of his hands and pressed it hard against the ground. With her other hand, she casually picked at her ear. “So loud.”
“Curtis!” Angelica hadn’t expected this at all. She stared at Victoria in shock. “Victoria, if you’re angry at me, you can hit me. But how could you attack Curtis?”
