Victoria explained. “I need to prep for the copyright sales meeting for Chasing the Dream, so you’ll have to stand in for me representing Brightstar Entertainment.”
Tracy’s eyes sparkled. “The copyright sales meeting? Ms. Binder, do you actually know Viara?”
Victoria arched an eyebrow. “Know her? I am Viara.”
“Wait, what? Ms. Binder, did you say you’re Viara?” Tracy’s jaw nearly hit the floor as she finally processed what Victoria had just said.
Victoria nodded calmly. “That’s right.”
‘Seriously, Ms. Binder? You’re cracking jokes at a time like this?” Tracy sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Have you been too stressed out since you took over Brightstar Entertainment?”
Victoria repeated firmly, “I really am Viara.”
Tracy looked conflicted. “It’s not that I don’t trust you… But Viara? The one who elevated romance novels to almost the level of world classics? Her four books perfectly blend commercial success and artistic value…
“Someone like that has to be a brilliant, visionary woman. Honestly, Ms. Binder, you don’t seem like that type.”
“What kind of vibe do I give off then?” Victoria asked, genuinely curious.
‘You’re more easygoing, carefree, and kind of bold,” Tracy sighed. “Alright, since you don’t want to go yourself, I’ll represent Brightstar Entertainment tomorrow, just like you said.”
In the end, I, the company’s longtime loyal secretary, have to bear everything, Tracy thought to herself.
“Tomorrow, bring Yvonne, the new signing, along with you,” Victoria instructed.
“Alright,” Tracy said, not even bothering to question it anymore. Whatever Victoria asked, she’d go with it.
Well, she was still getting paid by Brightstar Entertainment, after all.
When Tracy walked out of the CEO’s office with a hopeless look on her face, the staff immediately sensed something was wrong. “Tracy, why do you look like you’ve lost all hope? Is there something wrong with our work reports or something?”
Tracy shook her head. “No, that’s not it.”
“Then why do you look like you’re doomed?” someone pressed.
Tracy sighed. “Ms. Binder wants me to represent the company at Viara’s copyright sales meeting for Chasing the Dream
tomorrow.”
“You?” The employees were stunned.
“Yeah, me. Can you believe it?” Tracy sighed again, looking utterly defeated.
The employees were freaking out “Didn’t you tell her that Viara specifically said the company needs to send someone with real power, the ultimate decision–maker? It’s pretty clear what Viara wants.

“She wants to see who actually values this meeting and is willing to show real sincerity. Whoever does is most likely going to score the rights to Chasing the Dream.”
“Exactly! Our company’s already hanging by a thread. If she doesn’t go and fight for it herself, is she just going to let someone else snatch up this S–tier asset that could be a massive hit?”
“So if she’s not going to the meeting, what is she even planning to do?”
Tracy, looking totally defeated, said, “She told me she’s going to the meeting as Viara, not as the company’s rep.”
Everyone was stunned.
“Seriously? She’s just making stuff up now?”
“If she’s Viara, then I’m the most famous writer in the world.”
The head of the plarining department slammed his files down with a cold laugh. “So Ms. Binder really is all show, no substance.
“I even turned down a double salary offer from Gale Entertainment to stay here, and this is what I get. If we don’t land the S- tier project Chasing the Dream. I’m out of here!”
The finance director chimed in with a mocking tone, “You guys might not know this, but I heard the Binder Group has been losing money for years, and Springrise Technologies was in the red last quarter.
“Maybe Ms. Binder is just too stingy to spend big on the rights to Chasing the Dream, trying to patch up the Binder family’s other businesses instead.”
Just then, an employee from the PR department looked up from his computer and said, “I just saw a rumor.
“Gale Entertainment has already set aside 100 million dollars in cash to snatch up the rights to Chasing the Dream. They’re dead set on winning this one!”
The employees sighed. “We’re doomed. Things are looking grim, and now Ms. Binder’s acting all crazy. We might as well call it quits. Work as long as we can, but start looking for new jobs now, just in case.”
It was already quitting time, so everyone started packing up and heading out.
Meanwhile, Victoria was in her office, carefully going over everyone’s work summaries.
She put together a performance bonus plan based on each person’s results, hoping to encourage the current team to step up and improve their performance.
Once she was done, she sent the bonus plan file to Tracy, along with a quick note. [We’ll roll this out officially after the holiday next month.]
After finishing up, Victoria shut down her computer and was about to head home when her phone rang with an unknown number.
‘Hmm, that number looks familiar. Isn’t it Nathan’s private line?‘ Victoria thought to herself.
She’d even called him the night before last to provoke him.
Victoria answered the call and walked over to the window, watching the employees heading home in small groups below

Chapter 226
Nathan’s cold voice came through the line. “Victoria.”
“Well, well, Mr. Clark. What’s the matter? Calling to admit defeat? Victoria teased.

“Actually, that’s my line. If you’re willing to switch sides and help me bring down Jackson, the Clark family will wipe the slate clean about my uncle. No strings attached,” Nathan replied coolly.
“Did that leaked sex video of you and Bater make you lose your mind? You actually called me to try and recruit me?” Victoria shot back, not holding back. “Why would I ditch Jack, the hottest guy in Benwig City, for you, Mr. Perpetual Second Place?”
“Victoria, don’t refuse a good offer only to end up with the bad one. I never hand out chances to people who’ve messed up,” Nathan snapped.
Even through the phone, Victoria could practically picture Nathan gritting his teeth.
She kept needling him, “Wow, Mr. Clark, could you be any more arrogant and shameless? Am I supposed to thank you for that?”
“Fine, Victoria. I’ve got your answer. Just wait and see how I’ll eat away at the Binder family’s empire, bit by bit. When the time comes, you’ll be left high and dry, no matter who you call for help,” Nathan sneered.
Victoria snorted with laughter. “Come on. Mr. Clark, you can’t intimidate me. I never rely on fate or anyone else. I only trust myself.”
“Then I’ll make sure you realize that this time, your self–reliance won’t do you any good.” Nathan replied coldly.
With that, he hung up.
Victoria flashed a scornful smile. ‘Chance? As if. Nathan’s about to learn the hard way. Messing with me means the Clark family’s empire in Benwig City is going down, fast.
In the VIP private room at the Midnight Blue, Nathan hung up the phone, his face dark with annoyance. Zachary quickly handed him a drink. “Mr. Clark, don’t waste your breath on her.
“Since that crazy bitch Victoria had the nerve to disrespect you right to your face, there’s no need to show her any mercy
now.”
“Oh. really? Then why don’t you tell me, how exactly should I show her no mercy? Or are you volunteering to take her out yourself?” Nathan shot Zachary a frosty glare, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Zachary was instantly at a loss for words, his face twisting with embarrassment and helplessness.
He had zero clout in Benwig City. How was he supposed to do anything to Victoria?
With Victoria running the whole Binder family now, and with Jackson in her corner, Zachary trying to mess with her would be like an ant trying to topple a mountain, utterly hopeless.
Nathan cast a sinister glance at Zachary.
Zachary quickly said, “Mr. Clark, Annie’s been hanging around Victoria a lot lately. I could kidnap Annie and use her as bait. just like how Cassian and Sibley targeted Jackson back then.”
