Chapter 33
Julia snapped out of it and nodded quickly. “Oh, okay.”

Her fingers trembled as she pulled out her phone and dialed. Her heart wouldn’t settle. She kept wondering how serious Simon’s injury really was.
From the way he reacted just now, it didn’t feel like something as simple as an accident.
‘Could someone have beaten him? Who would dare cripple Simon’s leg?‘ she wondered.
Simon had always been the one bullying others. No one had ever dared lay a hand on him.
She was still lost in thought when Curtis and Angelica walked in. Julia hurried over. “Do either of you know what happened to Simon’s right leg?”
Angelica hesitated, her face uneasy. Curtis said, “It has to be Victoria.”
He went on to tell Julia everything–how he’d gone to Brightstar Entertainment yesterday to complain, and how he’d just seen Victoria treating Simon with open disrespect in the garage.
Julia’s face darkened with anger. “She’s gone too far. If this really is her doing, I won’t let her get away with it.”
Her voice turned sharp. “Look into it. I want answers right away.”
Simon dragged his injured right leg all the way back to his room and slammed the door behind him.
He dropped onto the bed, breathing unevenly. Then he rolled up his pant leg and stared at his right leg, his face twisting with pain.
Minutes passed, one after another. Just as his patience was about to snap, a knock finally came at the door.
Simon, the doctor’s here,” Julia called from outside.
Relief flashed through him. He pushed himself up and made his way to the door with heavy, uneven steps. He pulled it ope and let the old doctor in.
Mom, please wait outside, Simon said, trying to keep his voice steady.
Julia looked at him with worry but nodded and stepped out.
Once the door closed, the old doctor glanced at Simon’s right leg and said, “Your mother asked me to examine your leg
Simon shook his head, his expression serious. “Not my leg. I need you to check what kind of poison I’ve been given
The doctor froze. “Poison?” He quickly set down his medical bag and had Simon sit on the edge of the bed. Then he began a careful examination.
As time passed, the doctor’s expression grew more and more serious. His brows pulled together tightly.
After a long while, he let out a helpless sigh. “I’m sorry. I can’t identify the poison.”
Simon’s face darkened at once. His voice dropped. “Then can you at least suppress it?”

The doctor shook his head, his expression bitter. “I don’t even know what it is. How could I know what to use against it?”
Simon’s face turned pale. The Binder family’s private doctor was well–known across the country. If even he couldn’t figure it out. Simon couldn’t think of anyone else who could.
Long after the doctor left. Simon finally took out his phone and made a call. “Mr. White, do you know anyone who specializes in treating poisoning?”
Alexis White, the owner of the largest auction house in Benwig City, had connections everywhere.
“I do” Alexis replied. “If you’re talking about the best in the country, that would be a poison specialist. Why? Have you been poisoned?”
“Yes,” Simon said. “Find me someone who can cure it. Money isn’t a problem.”
Alexis hesitated. “It’s not about money. Mr. Binder. That woman isn’t easy to meet. She only shows up when she has rare medicinal herbs to auction. Each one sells for at least three million dollars. She’s not short on cash.”
Simon’s voice tightened. “Then how do I find her?” If the poison stayed in his system, he’d spend the rest of his life at Victoria’s mercy. To him. that was a fate worse than death.
“I don’t have a direct way to contact her,” Alexis said. “All I can do is let you know the next time she shows up to auction something.”
I understand. Thank you.” Simon hung up, gripping his phone tightly. His eyes were cold, filled with hatred.
Once he found a way to cure the poison, he would make Victoria pay for everything.
After returning to the villa, Victoria brought in the medicinal herbs she had left out to dry and went back to her room. She sorted them carefully into different wooden boxes, organizing them by type.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Mara.
Victoria figured it must be about the investigation she had asked for–the Binder family’s current business situation.
She dusted off her hands and picked up the call.
Mara said, “Boss, I’ve gone through all the Binder family’s businesses as you asked.
“Their main source of income is still Binder Pharma Group. But in recent years, under Darell’s management, it’s clearly been declining
“They haven’t developed any new drugs, but other companies keep innovating and bringing in new talent
“With Darell’s rigid, unwilling to adapt management style, the company is only going to have a harder time surviving
She paused briefly before continuing. “The second biggest source of income is Brightstar Entertainment, which Sayon
manages.
“He’s done okay. He’s signed a few promising newcomers and produced some successful projects. But nothing major. No real breakout hit.”
A trace of amusement slipped into her voice. “That’s why Simon’s been trying to get the rights to the last unpublished novel by the bestselling author Viara. He’s hoping it’ll turn into a big hit.

“Everyone in the industry knows Viara only wrote four books. The first three were all huge successes when adapted. So this last one has become the prize everyone’s fighting over.”
Victoria raised an eyebrow, a faint smile forming. What a coincidence. She was Viara.
Mara continued. “But Simon’s chances are basically zero. After all, you’re Viara.”
Victoria let out a soft chuckle. “What about Hector? What is he in charge of?”
Mara’s tone turned neutral again. “He’s managing a newly established AI company–Springrise Technologies. But since it’s still new, it hasn’t made much money yet.”
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Al company?”
She murmured the words under her breath, but inside, her interest had already been stirred.
She knew exactly how much potential that field had. The future of it was enormous.
That was why, whenever she wasn’t working on cultivating medicinal herbs, she spent a lot of time studying AI. She had even applied for patents on her latest research.
Once those patents were approved, and if she transferred them to Springrise Technologies, the company would rise rapidly in Benwig City.
