After all the chaos tonight, it was unclear whether Gale Entertainment would continue filming Rising to the Top. In fact, Victoria hoped they would. She hadn’t even revealed Larry’s dirty secrets yet.

This movie star, Larry, was the real scumbag, cheating on his wife and abandoning his family.

Just then, Jackson’s video call popped up, and Victoria answered instantly.

“Done with your work?” Jackson asked.

“Definitely. Even if I’m swamped, I always make time to call you first,” Victoria replied.

Jackson chuckled. “Ever since you showed up, the entertainment world has been crazier than ever. Maybe your next book should be all about you.”

Victoria grinned. “You know what? I’ve actually been thinking about that. The opening scene? It’ll be the day we first met.”

“So, I’m the male lead in your book?” Jackson asked.

“Come on, who else could be my male lead but you?” Victoria replied.

Jackson grinned. “I can’t wait for your new book.”

“It’ll be done soon. I’m planning to finish it next year,” Victoria said. Her books were never too long; usually about 700,000 words.

If she didn’t get lazy, she could wrap it up in just half a year. And since she was writing about herself, writer’s block wouldn’t be an issue this time.

“Vickie, you met with Ashley today, right?” Jackson asked.

“Yeah,” Victoria replied, giving him a quick rundown of what happened.

After hearing her out, Jackson said, “He probably used Ashley as a go-between to see if you’d found out about him. Judging by what you did tonight, he must be sure now that you know he’s the one backing the Clark family.

“As I said, he’ll try to warn me first, hoping I’ll get you to back off. If that doesn’t work, he’ll come after you himself. Vickie, you really need to think about what he might do next.”

Victoria gave a calm smile. “Let him try. I’m not afraid.”

But Jackson cautioned her, “He might not come after you head-on. He could go after you in roundabout ways, so you need to think about every possibility, like your uncles and aunts, your family members.

“His power far surpasses Nathan’s, and the methods he can use are way beyond anything you can imagine. If you really want to bring him down for real, you’ll have to find his political rivals The two of us alone won’t be enough.”

Seeing Jackson’s rare serious expression, Victoria smiled. “Alright I get it. This time, when I go after Steven, I’ll make sure have a foolproof plan. I won’t put myself or my family in danger

“Vickie, you can offend as many of the rich families below me as you want. But for those above me, I’ll do everything I can to keep you safe,” Jackson said seriously. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

Victoria chuckled. “Relax, I never go into a fight I’m not sure I can win. Alright, it’s getting late. Get some sleep, Jack”

Okay, goodnight. Vickie, Jackson replied.

After hanging up. Victoria got up to feed Greenie and the others her mind still turning over what Jackson had said. How would Steven come after me?’ she wondered. ‘And is it really true that I have to find his political enemies to take him down?’

*****

The next morning, Victoria woke up. She’d spent last night thinking about what Jackson said, and eventually drifted off to sleep. Now that she was awake, she still had no clue what to do.

The ways people had tried to hurt her before included Angelica hiring thugs to assault her, Simon trying to destroy her looks, Darell kidnapping her or hiring a hitman, and Nathan going as far as spiking her drink or blowing things up.

Other stuff, like causing a car crash, was pretty common too. ‘What other ruthless tricks could Steven possibly have up his sleeve?’ Victoria wondered.

With that question still nagging at her, Victoria washed up and went downstairs for breakfast. “Victoria, morning,” Daisy called as she and Mabel carried breakfast out from the kitchen.

Victoria snapped out of her thoughts, catching Daisy’s warm smile and then seeing Hector grabbing milk from the microwave.

Right then, she made a silent promise to herself: no matter what tricks Steven pulled, she’d never let him succeed. Her parents would never get hurt; not on her watch.

“Morning, Victoria! I’m here,” Geoffery called out, doing his best to sound upbeat.

Daisy and Hector, who had just sat down, exchanged glances. They were baffled that, after being beaten up the day before, he still had the nerve to show up again that morning.

Victoria turned to Geoffery with a bright smile. “Morning! Come have breakfast.”

Seeing her smile, Geoffery couldn’t help but shiver, but he still forced himself to walk over. Victoria slid her own plate of breakfast over to him. “Eat up. You need to get your strength back.”

Geoffrey shook his head. “No, thanks, Victoria…”

“What?” Victoria raised her eyebrows at him, giving him a pointed look. “Are you really sure?”

Daisy thought, ‘Why does it feel like Victoria’s teaching a puppy a lesson right now?’

Geoffrey froze for a second, then forced an awkward laugh. “Thanks, Victoria.”

Seeing this, Mabel went to get another plate of breakfast for Victoria.

After watching Geoffrey struggle through his breakfast, Victoria wiped her mouth and said, “Alright, wait for me outside. You’re driving me to work.”

“Okay, Victoria,” Geoffrey replied, secretly relieved that Victoria hadn’t done anything to him. He quickly got up and hurried out of the villa.

“Dad, Mom, I’m off to work!” Victoria said with a smile as she stood up.

Daisy snapped out of her thoughts. “Alright, take it slow on the road.”

Outside the villa, Victoria saw that Geoffrey was totally relaxed. She walked right up to him and socked him right in the face.

Victoria said coldly, “I told you to eat breakfast, so you eat. Where’d you get the guts to say no to me? If I hadn’t wanted to keep from scaring my parents, I would’ve smacked you right then and there!”

After getting beaten up again and again, Geoffrey couldn’t take the humiliation anymore. He swallowed his anger and started walking slowly toward Victoria. When he was just a step away, he raised his hand and lunged for Victoria’s throat, trying to strangle her.

But before his hand could even reach Victoria’s neck, she grabbed his wrist and, with a smooth takedown, tossed him to the ground. Victoria straightened up, pressing her foot firmly on his chest as he struggled to get up.

“Geoffrey, you really aren’t afraid of dying, huh? Still daring to lay a hand on me?” Victoria said coldly. Without missing a beat, she kicked him right in the head.

Hearing the commotion, Daisy and Hector came to the door to see what was going on, just in time to hear him cursing, “Victoria, you bitch! When Nathan finds me, he’ll chop you up and toss you to the fish!”

Victoria snorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Wow, dropping the act already? Not gonna keep pretending you’re sorry? With that attitude, how did you ever think you could fool me and get revenge for Nathan?”

Geoffrey gritted his teeth. “Victoria, don’t get ahead of yourself. Nathan just got careless for a second. Once he’s back on his feet, he’ll wreck the Binder family and sell you off to…”

Before he could spit out the last word, Victoria slammed her shoe right onto his face.
