Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 111

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 111**

**Damien’s POV**

Claire’s words lingered in my mind like an unwelcome echo long after she had departed. It wasn’t that I found any merit in her argument—there was none to be found—but rather the unsettling thought that perhaps others shared her sentiments. The notion gnawed at me, igniting a flicker of anxiety within.

Claire, with her formidable werewolf heritage, stood as one of the pillars of our pack. It was this very strength that had swayed me to consider her as the bearer of my heir when our families broached the subject. Her connection to the pack was profound; she had a pulse on its emotions, perhaps even more so than I did. And when it came to Amelia, I had to admit, my perspective was clouded by an overwhelming affection that dulled my senses.

If Claire harbored such feelings regarding Amelia, it was likely that others did as well. Perhaps more than I had ever dared to contemplate…

The work I had been immersed in felt utterly futile now. I could no longer focus on the tasks at hand; my thoughts were consumed with the need to see for myself what transpired within the hospital walls. I had to ensure that no one was making Amelia’s situation any more difficult than it already was.

Claire’s callousness weighed heavily on my heart…

True, her brother’s involvement could justify her personal feelings, but what about Healer Eve? She was also there, overseeing Ethan. To place such burdens on Amelia during this vulnerable time felt… cruel, to say the least.

Resolutely, I set aside my unfinished work and exited my office, my steps quickening as I made my way to the hospital.

Thanks to my Alpha status, I bypassed the usual waiting areas, striding directly through the doors that separated the anxious families from the inner workings of the hospital.

As I entered, I caught sight of a pair of nurses at the nurses’ station, filling a bucket with water from a nearby sink. The sight struck me as odd.

“What are you doing?” I inquired, my voice steady but laced with authority. It was unusual for nurses to engage in such tasks; their focus was meant to be on patient care, not cleaning up messes that should have been handled by the janitorial staff.

Both nurses jumped at my voice, one of them inadvertently kicking the bucket, sending water splashing across the floor. The other nurse let out a curse, quickly following it with an apology. “Sorry, Alpha.”
