Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 120

**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 120**

**Chapter 120**

**Amelia’s POV**

Despite the weight of Damien’s harsh words and veiled threats, and despite the newfound respect I had earned among the pack, an undeniable longing to escape enveloped me. I yearned for the familiar embrace of Jake’s pack, a sanctuary where I could feel safe and secure. Damien’s declarations seemed to have only sown confusion among the others, leaving them more lost than guided. It was as if they had collectively decided to turn a blind eye to my presence, skirting around me as if I were a phantom haunting their midst.

In some ways, I supposed it was preferable to being bullied, but the isolation still made me feel like an outsider, awkward and uncomfortable in my own skin. I craved the comfort of a place where I could truly relax, where the tension wouldn’t coil around my chest like a vise.

Cara, too, was restless, though she wore her unease like a cloak, never admitting to it directly. I could sense her readiness, a constant vigilance that spoke of her preparedness for an impending attack. It was unnerving; I had yet to witness her drift into sleep, her eyes always scanning the horizon, alert to any sign of danger. While I admired her dedication, I couldn’t help but worry for her well-being.

And what about my own? This relentless tension gnawed at me, and I feared for the baby growing inside me. I needed to find peace, for both our sakes.

With Ethan’s recovery, a flicker of hope ignited within me. Perhaps we could return to Jake’s pack sooner than I had anticipated. Yet, when I approached Eve later that day, her expression was laden with concern, a stark contrast to the hope I clung to.

“I think we should stay one more night,” Eve suggested, her voice steady but laced with worry. “Just to be safe, to keep an eye on Ethan. We hadn’t properly tested the cure before it was administered. While I have every confidence in your skills and the remedy we created, I would feel more at ease if we remained here for a few more hours. We need to ensure that no complications arise.”

Her words resonated with me, even as I internally battled my desire to leave. The health of the patient was undeniably paramount.

This meant, of course, that I would have to spend yet another night in the house I had shared with Damien. The thought sent a shiver down my spine. Memories of that dream, the one where I had kissed him, flooded my mind, igniting a warmth in my cheeks. The passionate defense he had mounted for me in front of the angry crowd only intensified my turmoil.

How was I supposed to face him again?

Anger still simmered within me for the wrongs he had committed, yet it was hard to cling to that anger when he was finally stepping up, embodying the man I had always hoped he could be. Standing up for me in front of his pack was a significant gesture, even if it felt like a case of too little too late. It meant something to me, even if it couldn’t alter the course of our tangled history.
