Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 315

**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 315**
**CONTENT: Chapter 315**

**Damien’s POV**

“I never wished for you to be my Luna, and I will never wish for you to take that role,” I growled, my voice low and menacing. Even after all this time, she clung to her misguided beliefs as if they were a lifeline. “The only reason my mother ever chose you was due to your lineage, a mere pawn in her game to produce a robust heir. My feelings for you have never been what you desire them to be.”

She huffed, raising her chin defiantly. “You honestly think I care whether you want me or not? This isn’t about desire, Damien. This is about necessity.”

“You need to stop living in your fantasies, Claire,” I retorted sharply, frustration bubbling within me.

But she didn’t relent. If anything, she seemed to dig her heels in deeper.

“Mark my words, if you wish to retain your power, you will find yourself needing me, Damien. As an advisor. As your Luna. Whatever form it takes, you will need to keep me close.”

My growl intensified, reverberating through the room like a warning. That sounded alarmingly like a threat. “Get out of my office.”

“You can’t face the truth, Damien. You’re the one trapped in a fantasy, clinging to the memory of a woman who is no longer here.”

“Leave,” I bellowed, infusing my voice with the authority of my Alpha status, hoping to assert my dominance.

Finally, she fell silent, though her glare could have burned through stone. With a haughty turn, she exited the room, leaving a charged silence in her wake.

I had hoped that her departure would lighten the burden I carried, but the weight remained, heavy and suffocating.

I lingered for a moment, half-expecting her to return, but when she didn’t, I sank back into my chair, grappling with the new heaviness that had settled over me.

Perhaps it wasn’t entirely new, but Claire’s words had struck a nerve, making it impossible for me to ignore.

I had accused Claire of being lost in her delusions, yet I was guilty of the same sin, dreaming and wishing for Annette to somehow be my Amelia, returned to me like a long-lost treasure.

No matter how I tried to convince myself otherwise, the truth remained stark: Annette was not Amelia, and I needed to stop pretending she was.

Then there was the unsettling notion of what Claire had implied about needing her in the future. It wasn’t unusual for her to plot and scheme, and the prospect of her plans sent a chill down my spine.

In recent years, I had dedicated more time to my own life than I ever had before. Before Amelia’s death, my pack had always come first; I would have sacrificed anything for their needs. My devotion had inadvertently led to Amelia feeling neglected, among other issues.

Now, with my daughters in my life, my priorities had shifted dramatically. I would skip meetings and events if my girls required me or had appointments that clashed with my responsibilities.

Despite this change, I trusted my pack would understand. I was a father now, and that altered everything. Surely, I didn’t need Claire by my side for them to grasp that. In fact, it would likely confuse them further to see me wed to the woman I had accused of murdering my wife.

Even in Claire’s absence, it took time for my anger to dissipate. She had left a storm in her wake, raising my blood pressure to alarming levels.

The only remedy that seemed to soothe my frayed nerves was the sight of my daughters’ photos, alongside those of Amelia.

Yet, even as I gazed at Amelia’s image, my mind drifted to Annette.

I glanced at my phone, a surge of temptation washing over me. Would she answer if I called?

I immediately dismissed the thought, chastising myself for even considering it. Jake had made his disapproval of my involvement with Annette clear, even when it came to her helping Stacy. There was no way he would approve of me reaching out directly.

Annette would likely try to conceal any contact, but that would only lead her into deeper trouble.

I needed to maintain my distance from her as much as possible. I still required her assistance with Stacy, but beyond that, I had to keep my presence in her life to a minimum.
