**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 319**
As Stacy gracefully stepped away from the exam bed, I took her place, my body sinking into the familiar surface. I stretched out, letting my muscles relax, just as I had been instructed for these meditative moments. The room was a sanctuary, filled with a sense of calm that wrapped around me like a warm blanket.
The girls, full of youthful energy, moved to the side of the room, seeking comfort near their father. Sienna, with a determined look, walked over to the light switch, dimming the overhead lights until the atmosphere became soft and inviting. Jeffery, sensing my readiness, stepped closer, his voice dropping to a soothing whisper that seemed to resonate within the walls.
“Close your eyes,” he instructed gently. “Listen to my voice and follow my instructions very carefully.”
I obeyed, shutting my eyes and surrendering to his calming baritone, which flowed over me like a gentle stream. He guided me through the process of letting go, encouraging my body to relax and my mind to drift. In that moment, I felt as if I were floating, detached from my physical self, adrift in the vast sea of my consciousness.
“Now,” he continued, “I want you to travel back in time.”
His words hung in the air, and I felt a pull, a magnetic force drawing me into the depths of my memories.
“Do not search for a grand moment,” he advised, his tone steady and reassuring. “Something small will suffice. Perhaps the taste of your favorite dish, the fragrance of a flower that brings you joy. It could be a fleeting conversation, a simple argument. Whatever comes to mind, approach it gently and observe it, but do not cling too tightly.”
As I followed his guidance, I found myself standing in an office. The familiarity washed over me like a wave, and though I wasn’t entirely sure how I knew it, I recognized it as Damien’s. The sight of him standing on the other side of the desk confirmed my intuition.
Thoughts swirled in my mind like leaves caught in a gust of wind. There were so many, each one vying for my attention, yet I remembered Jeffery’s counsel not to grasp at them too tightly. I allowed the thoughts to ebb and flow, capturing what I could while letting the rest drift away.
A sharp pang of betrayal lodged itself deep within my ribs.
There was Damien, right in front of me, his expression a mix of confusion and hurt. Though I couldn’t quite catch the words exchanged between us, the tension in the air was palpable. I sensed we were in the midst of a heated argument.
In that moment, I couldn’t help but reflect on the sacrifices I had made—leaving everything behind to follow this man into the mysterious realm of werewolves. And now, it felt as though he was throwing those sacrifices back in my face.
