**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 330**
**Chapter 330**
Just as I was grappling with the overwhelming uncertainty of my situation, Sienna burst into my doorway like a whirlwind. “What the hell are you still doing here?” she demanded, her voice sharp and urgent. “Now’s the time, Annette. Run!”
For a fleeting moment, I misinterpreted her words, thinking she meant I should flee the house entirely. My heart raced as I sprang from my room, following her down the staircase, each step echoing my rising panic. But when we reached the front door, she paused and turned to face me, her expression grave.
“I’ll check to make sure no one is looking for you,” she instructed, her tone leaving no room for argument. “You need to head to these coordinates. Look at your phone.” With that, she thrust a slip of paper into my trembling hands. “I’ve already set everything up. Someone will be there to help you escape.”
Confusion washed over me like a cold wave. “I don’t understand,” I stammered, my mind racing to piece together the puzzle of her words.
“This is it, Annette. Your one chance for escape. You have to get out of here now. They won’t give you another opportunity. What’s it going to be?” The urgency in her voice pierced through my fog of bewilderment.
She was right, of course. I couldn’t fathom how I had landed in such dire circumstances, but I knew I had to seize this moment while it was still within my grasp.
“Okay,” I finally managed to say, gripping the note tightly as if it were a lifeline. “Okay. Thank you.” I was trying to convince myself that I could do this. Running away… Would I ever see Jake again? The thought sent a pang of sorrow through me, but I had to push it aside.
No, I needed to be strong. I couldn’t allow fear to dictate my choices.
Sienna nodded at me, her eyes filled with determination, and then she stepped outside. She glanced both ways, her vigilance evident, and then signaled for me to follow her.
“Run,” she urged. “Run and don’t look back.”
With a surge of adrenaline, I obeyed, sprinting past the driveway and into the thick embrace of the woods. I ran until my legs screamed in protest, the branches whipping at my skin like the hands of ghosts trying to pull me back. After what felt like an eternity, I fished my phone from my pocket and checked the coordinates.
The fire back at the house would only buy me a few precious moments. I knew that eventually, Jake and Cara, along with others, would come searching for me. I had to reach the designated spot and meet the person Sienna had arranged for me. Only once I was safely in a car and away from the pack would I truly feel the weight of freedom.
Following the directions on my phone, I pushed myself until I found the location I had been instructed to reach. As I arrived, a man emerged from the shadows of the underbrush, his presence startling me.
