Chapter 433
I shoved through the front doors in my massive wolf form before shifting afterwards into my human form.
Immediately, I saw Amelia, and she was fine, giving direction the pack wives who seemed cowed by her
presence.
As I stormed forward, unapologetically interrupting the meeting, all eyes turned to me.
Amelia was immediately on guard.
But she was not as angry as I was. I circled her, making certain with all my senses that she was unharmed. Once I was assured she was, I let my anger fly.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked her, but I didn’t give her the chance to reply. “My guards called me, told me that you sneaked out of a bathroom window? Do you have any idea what could have happened? Amelia, you could have been killed!”
She stood strong, crossing her arms across her chest. She did not cower in the face of my rage. Instead she straightened, like a lighthouse in the storm, unwilling to bend under my crashing waves.
“I tried to compromise with you, and you wouldn’t listen to me,” she said. “You still aren’t listening to me. I had to be here. This was important. I’m not – and I will never allow myself to be a prisoner in my own home. I won’t let the fear win, and seeing you do so, makes me feel ashamed.”

A low growl escaped my throat. I loved this woman with whole of my heart. But her saying these things to me, especially in front of others, irritated my Alpha senses.
“You will return home,” I commanded.
“When the meeting is done,” she replied.
That wasn’t good enough, and I wasn’t going to stand here and argue this point. She still wasn’t safe, far too much in the open. This building wasn’t secure at this moment. The enemies could still be around every corner just waiting to take a shot.
I had to get her home. Right here. Right now.
So I moved toward her in flash, a blink of an eye for her, and I scooped her up into my arms.
“Damien!” she cried.
I held tight, ignoring her clear embarrassment. If she didn’t want to be humiliated, she shouldn’t have left the safety of our home where I had commanded her to stay.
Holding her, unwilling to let her go even as she squirmed, I turned and carried her right out of the building.
I wasn’t going to put her down until we were back at the house and those bathroom windows were nailed shut.
Claire’s POV
Gods, these days locked in the basement were long and boring. So I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from one of my contacts in Damien’s pack.

She was one of the pack wives, a group of high ranking women who helped in the preparation of banquets and events. She was supposed to work together with the Luna to make the best events possible. But lately, she’s shared with me that the women felt resentment toward Amelia.
They all secretly supported me, even if she was the only one to regularly check in.
Still, for her to call me so early in the day was unexpected. Finding this a nice diversion from my boredom, I answered the call.
