Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 493

Chapter 493

Amelia’s POV

As much as I didn’t want to spend more time than necessary with Damien, family dinners had still been a regular thing for our little family. I was angry with Damien, not with the girls. I still wanted them to feel happy and safe at home, with two parents who loved them very much.

So, since having dinner together wouldn’t be unusual at all, I should have been able to easily say yes.

However, from the sly way the girls were glancing at each other and at us, I had some suspicions this wasn’t just another family dinner that they helped plan. There was definitely something else going on here with them.

I wasn’t sure I was going to like it.

Yet, even with that suspicion, I couldn’t just say no to my daughters, especially with them looking at me with such wide vulnerable eyes, clearly hoping I will say yes.

I smiled as much as I could despite the certainty swirling within me. “What are we having?”

Amy and Stacy practically bounced in response, rolling excitedly from their heels to their toes.

“Chicken!” Amy said brightly.

“And cheese!” Stacy replied. “Parm… pareme… cheese!”

“Parmesan,” Amy said.

“Yeah, that,” Stacy said.

“That sounds wonderful, girls,” Damien said. “Let’s go to the dining room and we can all share in your meal.”

“Actually…” Amy said, her gaze drifting to the side.

“The dinner is just for the two of you,” Stacy said.

“Yeah, we are going to be your waitresses,” Amy said.

I could see now, what their scheme was. These two little matchmakers had seen the tension between me and their Dad and were now trying to set us up.

This plan became even more obvious when the girls led us, not to the living room where we usually had our meals, but out to the back deck, where a small two-person table had been set up, complete with a white tablecloth, fine dinnerware, and a candle, bracketed by flowers.

String lights were arranged along the banister of the deck, with some other low lights down in the garden. With the sun setting low, the sky was painted in color. The entire atmosphere was incredibly romantic.

I kind of wanted to run, but looking at the hopeful glint in the girls’ eyes, I couldn’t turn back now. At least, not without hurting their feelings which was something I would never do.

“This is beautiful,” I said. “Did you both arrange all this?”

“The staff helped…” Amy said.

“And the cook helped us some with dinner,” Stacy said.

I had already suspected that. No way would the cook allow the girls near the knives and oven unless heavily supervised. Even then, I was certain that the cook did most of the work. It was enough to know the girls wanted to helped and likely pitched in where the cook felt appropriate.

“Please sit,” Amy said and pulled out my chair.

“Allow me,” Damien said and took her place at the back of my chair. As I sat he helped me scoot in closer to the table.

“Thank you,” I said as I pretended not to notice how romantic of a gesture that really was.

Once I was settled, Damien went to the other seat and sat down.

Amy and Stacy took their places at the side of the table. Amy held a pen and notepad. Stacy had a kitchen towel over her arm.
