Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 52

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 52**

**Amelia’s POV**

“I’ll take you home,” Jake said, his strong arms encircling my waist as if to shield me from the uncertainties lurking in the corners of my mind. His warmth was comforting, yet I felt a surge of defiance rising within me.

“No,” I replied, my voice unwavering, shaking my head with determination.

Jake’s enforcers had already ensured that Damien’s men were escorted off the premises, and with that threat now dissipating like fog under the morning sun, a strange sense of relief washed over me. But beneath that relief lay an undeniable pull toward my responsibilities, a yearning that tugged at my heartstrings.

“I really want to go to work,” I insisted, my voice steady, even as a storm of emotions swirled inside me.

Jake’s expression was a mixture of disbelief and concern. “You aren’t frightened?” he asked, his brow furrowing slightly as if trying to comprehend my resolve.

Oh, I was frightened—terrified, in fact. But that fear wouldn’t change the reality that I had to face the world, whether at his estate or in the sterile environment of the hospital. I had faith that Damien wouldn’t attempt the same ploy again, and for now, he was still oblivious to the fact that his previous scheme had crumbled. This moment felt like the safest I could be.

“Alright,” Jake finally conceded, though reluctance laced his voice. “But I’ll station some enforcers here in the lobby and at the back entrance. If you sense even the slightest hint of danger, you find one of them. Understood? Call me when you’re ready to leave, and I’ll be here in a flash.”

“Thank you,” I said, a wave of gratitude swelling in my chest as we parted ways, each stepping back into our respective worlds, the weight of our unspoken concerns lingering in the air.

**Damien’s POV**

The moment my spies entered my office, a chill coursed down my spine, igniting a fire of fury within me. “What are you doing here? What news do you bring about Amelia?” I demanded, my voice low and menacing, as if I were summoning the very shadows of my rage.

“I thought we had an opening, Alpha,” the lead spy replied, his tone a mix of hope and urgency. “Amelia has taken a job at the hospital. But it seems Alpha Jake has her under close watch. We barely managed a conversation before she was whisked away.”

“You saw her? You spoke to her?” My heart raced at the thought, each beat echoing with desperation.

“Yes, Alpha,” he confirmed, his eyes darting nervously, as if the truth itself could strike him down.

“What was she like? Was she healthy? What did she say?” I needed to know every detail, each word clawing at my mind like a wild beast.

“She appeared healthy,” another spy chimed in, his voice steady. “No visible signs of abuse or injury.”

I nodded, feeling a flicker of relief, yet the way the spies exchanged glances told me they were withholding something crucial.

“What is it? Speak plainly. I want no secrets!” I barked, my impatience boiling over like a pot left too long on the stove.

“As for what she said, Alpha…” the second spy hesitated, clearly weighing his words like stones in a balance.

I turned my gaze to the lead spy, seeking answers, my frustration mounting. He was trained for this, accustomed to delivering news, no matter how bitter.

“Out with it,” I commanded, my tone brooking no argument.

“She said she doesn’t love you, Alpha. That she never loved you. She expressed regret for leaving the human realm and, more painfully, that she wishes she had never met you.”

Each word struck like a dagger, cold and sharp, piercing through the armor I had built around my heart.

Inside, my wolf howled in anguish, a mournful echo that reverberated through my very being. How could she feel this way? After everything we had shared, everything that had bound us together?

**Amelia’s POV**

Despite the chaos of the night still echoing in my mind, I strode into the emergency area with an unexpected surge of confidence, eager to find Eve. My heart raced, fueled by adrenaline and anticipation for my first day.

I had barely taken two steps when a nurse stepped into my path, blocking my way. It was Gwen—the very same nurse who had expressed her displeasure when I attempted to assist Sienna. Her frown deepened as she regarded me now, her disdain palpable.
