Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 66

**Title: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 66**

**Damien’s POV**

My heart raced with a ferocity that echoed through my entire being, a visceral instinct urging me to shield what was undeniably mine. Jake stood before me, a formidable obstacle between Amelia and myself, and I was prepared to unleash every ounce of my strength to dismantle that barrier, even if it meant engaging him in a fierce confrontation. The tension in the air was thick, wrapping around me like a coil, ready to snap at any moment. Just as I steeled myself to confront him, the door to Amelia’s examination room swung open, breaking the standoff with a suddenness that startled me.

Healer Eve emerged, her presence cutting through the charged atmosphere like a knife. Behind her, I caught sight of Amelia, perched on the edge of the examination table, her legs swinging gently, a childlike gesture that seemed to betray the weight of the situation.

Relief flooded over me as I confirmed that Amelia was unharmed. More importantly, she appeared free from fear, though her expression was distant, her gaze drifting away from me and fixating instead on her hands, which were clasped tightly in her lap.

“Please, no bloodshed in the hospital hallways,” Eve admonished, her voice steady and authoritative, resonating with the kind of reprimand one might expect for unruly children.

“I was merely trying to keep him at bay,” Jake shot back, his frustration palpable, his eyes narrowing into slits as they bore into me.

“I need to ensure that Amelia and the baby are okay,” I insisted, urgency infiltrating my tone. “Everyone seems intent on undermining my concerns, but from the very beginning, my only focus has been their safety. I just want to know they’re alright!”

This entire situation felt maddening. I was the Alpha, a figure meant to command respect and authority, yet here I stood, feeling my power diminish in this unfamiliar territory. The indifference radiating from Amelia felt like a knife twisting in my gut, and I could sense that Healer Eve was being swayed by Jake’s influence, a member of his pack.

In the midst of this turmoil, my only ally was Dr. Wyatt. I turned my gaze to her, desperate for reassurance. She had previously sided with Amelia, but now, more than ever, I needed the truth.

Dr. Wyatt’s eyes flicked between Amelia and me, her expression contemplative before she finally spoke. “The baby is strong,” she announced, her voice carrying a hint of surprise. “Stronger than we initially anticipated.”

In that instant, a flicker of hope ignited within me for the first time since I had learned about Amelia’s pregnancy with our human-werewolf hybrid child. How could I not love this baby? They were the very embodiment of the love Amelia and I had once shared.

Yet, worry gnawed at my insides, knowing the challenges that lay ahead for both Amelia and our child. The thought of a fragile life growing inside her was almost unbearable. But now, with Dr. Wyatt’s reassuring words, my fears began to dissipate like mist under the morning sun.

“The baby is exhibiting werewolf traits,” Dr. Wyatt continued, her tone more soothing. “We will need to monitor the situation closely, but there’s no reason to believe the baby won’t reach full term.”

My heart soared at this revelation. Just moments ago, I was ready to fight, but now, everything shifted. A smile broke across my face, impossible to suppress as joy bubbled up within me. Why would I even want to suppress it?

Yes, our relationship was fraught with tension, but our baby was thriving! They were healthy, and that was all that mattered.
