Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 81

**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 81**

“Dear Gods,” Eve exclaimed, her voice a mixture of shock and concern.

Dr. Wyatt swiftly reached for her medical bag, her movements efficient and practiced.

I felt a surge of urgency. Without a moment’s hesitation, I slid off the bed and rushed toward Damien. Drawing upon my medical training, I inspected him, desperately searching for the source of the blood that stained his skin. Most of it had already dried, a grim testament to whatever battle he had just survived.

“Hey, hey,” he murmured, his hands catching my elbows, halting my frantic examination. He lowered his head, compelling me to meet his gaze. “I’m okay, beautiful. None of this blood is mine. Well,” he added with a slight tilt of his head, “most of it isn’t mine. The rest are from wounds that have already healed.”

In that moment, Jake’s words echoed in my mind. He had said that there was little need for healers after werewolf skirmishes; the wolves either emerged victorious or met their end, with hardly anything in between.

For what felt like an eternity, I was rendered speechless, my eyes locked onto his.

“She’s in shock,” Eve observed, her voice cutting through the silence. Suddenly, I felt hands guiding me back toward the bed, a gentle but firm insistence.

No! This wasn’t right. I shouldn’t be the one lying on the bed. Damien was the one drenched in crimson. How was it possible that he stood before me, seemingly unscathed?

“Perhaps you should have taken a moment for a shower on your way here,” Dr. Wyatt suggested, her tone laced with a hint of humor.

“I couldn’t afford to waste a single minute getting here for the appointment,” Damien replied, a hint of defiance in his voice.

“We can always postpone the appointment,” Eve interjected, her brow furrowing with concern.

“You should really shower here,” Dr. Wyatt insisted, glancing at Eve for confirmation. “I’m certain you have facilities?”

“Yes,” Eve affirmed, pulling away from my side. “I’ll show you.”

What? Was Damien really leaving again? He had just arrived! He could have lost his life out there!

I sprang off the bed once more. “I’ll help you,” I blurted out, my voice a mix of determination and desperation.

The room fell silent as everyone turned to look at me, surprise etched on their faces.

As the realization of my words sunk in, I froze, embarrassment creeping in. “I meant… I’ll help clean your wounds…”

A smile began to spread across Damien’s face, even as Eve and Dr. Wyatt exchanged bewildered glances.

“Perhaps… we should give them some space?” Dr. Wyatt suggested, her eyes darting back to me, as if seeking affirmation for this unexpected turn of events.

Since it was indeed what I desired, I nodded, albeit hesitantly.

“Space it is,” Eve echoed, her voice softening as she caught on to the unspoken understanding.

“I’ll leave my medical bag,” Dr. Wyatt said, her voice professional as she prepared to exit.

“There are fresh towels in the cabinet by the sink,” Eve added, her tone brisk. I was well aware of that, having worked here, but it was a kind gesture nonetheless. It was reassuring to see Eve rattled by Damien’s sudden appearance; it allowed me to feel less alone in my own tumultuous emotions.

After a few more exchanges, Dr. Wyatt and Eve exited the room, leaving me alone with Damien.

The moment they were gone, I marched toward the sink, my heart racing. I found a towel and dampened it under the cool water from the faucet.

Damien stepped closer, his face a canvas of dried blood. “You were worried about me, weren’t you? It’s okay to admit it,” he teased, his voice light, almost playful.

I bit my lip, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a response.

“Come on,” he urged, his tone playful yet insistent. “Just say it.”
