Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 101

Finally, Lydia was here! Kylie and Cameron could barely contain themselves as they hurried to the hospital room door.

But Lydia beat them to it, already pushing the door open and stepping inside.

Connor, following everyone’s gaze, turned just in time to see a young girl walk in. The sight of her made his heart jolt.

She wore a black T-shirt and pants, her figure tall and slender, with an air that was both unique and striking. Her eyes were bright, and her skin so perfect it almost seemed to glow. Light seemed to follow her wherever she went.

Her long hair was loose and effortless, falling over her shoulders in a way that looked both casual and perfectly styled. When her clear, glassy eyes swept over the room, they shone with a confidence that bordered on indifference. Just meeting her gaze made Connor’s heart skip a beat.

There was something about this girl’s presence. It was magnetic, almost overwhelming.

And… there was something familiar about her.

“Lydia, are you finished at work? How’s everything going? Are you tired?” Kylie stepped forward, taking Lydia’s hand with a gentle smile.

Lydia’s lips curled into a small smile. She shook her head. “I’m fine. Not tired at all.”

Her voice was bright and clear, so refreshing it seemed to cheer up everyone in the room.

When Connor heard her speak, a wave of shock hit him. That voice…

It was like something exploded in his mind, leaving him completely at a loss.

Mr. Jefferson practically rushed over, his face lit up with excitement. “Lydia, if work’s too much, you should just quit. If your parents can’t take care of you, my family will.”

Lydia couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m really not tired, Grandpa Samuel. I just wanted to get some experience at the company.”

Mr. Jefferson thought she was the best thing that ever happened to this family. She was so capable, so mature, and with her parents’ wealth and the Jeffersons backing her, what more could she possibly need?

“Lydia, I heard you did your grandfather’s surgery?” His eyes sparkled with admiration.

Chris jumped in, eager. “Count me in. I was there too. I can totally back you up. Neil and his friends were totally cheating.”

Mikey nodded, glancing at Lydia. “Should we step outside for a bit?”

“Okay.”

As Mikey and Chris walked with Lydia out of the room, one on each side, Mr. Jefferson couldn’t hide his delight. His eyes practically disappeared behind his smile.

It looked like Lydia and Chris were getting along well. Mikey seemed like a good option too. As for his eldest grandson, Mr. Jefferson shot a glance at Connor, who looked totally out of it. He scoffed to himself, thinking Connor could just sit there and regret his choices.

But he had no idea that Connor was really drowning in regret, so much so he wanted to shake himself awake.

His eyesight might not be great, but his hearing was sharp.

There was no way he could mistake that voice. It was Chief Lydia.
