Mr. Jefferson’s face turned red with anger when he heard the news.
“That brat Jackson? Lydia would never give him the time of day.”
Mikey nodded, totally backing him up. “Exactly. Connor isn’t worried, so why are you stressing?”
Mr. Jefferson just stared at him.
How was he supposed to not worry? He was so anxious his throat felt raw.

Lydia slept well and woke up the next morning looking much better.
When Connor saw she was awake, he had breakfast brought straight to her room. He sat right by her bed, like he was about to feed her himself.
Lydia blinked at him. “Don’t do that. It feels weird.”
Connor smiled softly. “You don’t like it?”
Ever since he met Lydia, he’d looked up all sorts of tips online about how to take care of a girlfriend. Serving breakfast in bed was right at the top of the list. He’d never had the chance before, but since she was hurt, he figured he could finally try it out.
Lydia didn’t hesitate. “No, it’s just… strange.”
Connor looked a little wounded. Strange?
Realizing she’d probably hurt his feelings, Lydia tried to lighten the mood. “If you want, you can lie down and I’ll feed you instead.”
Connor was quiet for a second. “Maybe when I’m the one who’s injured.”
Lydia couldn’t help but laugh.
After breakfast, Lydia was ready to head back to the Norwood family home, and Connor insisted on driving her himself.
On the way, he was quiet for a while, then finally worked up the nerve to ask, “I heard you ran into Jackson at the National Day event?”
Lydia paused, thinking back to that day, and nodded. “Yeah. The Gibson family had a rough time because of me. I think he figured out who I really am.”
Connor’s expression grew serious. “If you see him again, you don’t have to talk to him.”
Lydia raised an eyebrow, giving him a look. “You want me to ignore a general, right in front of everyone?”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
