Lydia felt a wave of warmth in her chest.
She could see Garrett meant every word. Smiling, she said, “Thanks.”
Garrett reached over and ruffled her hair. “Come on, you don’t have to thank me. I’m your brother. Of course I’m going to look out for you. What you need to do is stop running yourself ragged at work. You have to take care of yourself, got it?”
“Okay,” Lydia replied softly.
Around five in the afternoon, Blake and Elliot showed up.
The whole family was back together, except for Arthur.
Elliot let out a sigh. “Seriously, Arthur hasn’t visited once since Lydia got back. What’s up with that?”
Kylie stepped in with a gentle voice. “You know his job is different. He’s always out on some assignment, but he promised he’ll come home to see Lydia as soon as he finishes this one. Lydia, when Arthur finally shows up, you can make him pay for it however you want.”
Lydia grinned. “It’s alright. I get it. His work keeps him busy. I’ll see him when he’s done.”
Cameron let out a big laugh. “See, Lydia’s always so understanding. When Arthur gets back, we’ll make sure he knows he owes you.”
Lucinda watched everyone fuss over Lydia, her hands clenching tighter and tighter.
Then, suddenly, she felt a large, warm hand gently cover her fist.
Surprised, she looked up and saw Caspian smiling at her, his voice soft. “I got you something for theholiday. It’s in the car. I hope you’ll like it.”
Caspian had clearly gone out of his way to please her.
Lucinda almost pulled her hand back, but she had to admit, having Caspian by her side made things a little less awkward. At least someone still cared about her.
She forced a small smile and nodded. “Okay.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
