Damien’s face changed in an instant. He had already swallowed his pride, yet his little brother wasn’t just dodging him—he was flat-out saying no.
“Glenn, are you still blaming me for what happened with our parents?” Damien threw it out there, even though Mr. Robinson hadn’t mentioned their parents at all.
“You have no right to talk about them.” Mr. Robinson’s voice turned cold.
Damien’s eyes darkened. “I know you’re mad that I didn’t rush back for their funeral. But did you ever stop to think about how they treated me?”
“Our parents did nothing wrong to you. You just never learned to be grateful.” The memories still stirred something deep in Mr. Robinson’s chest.
Damien had always insisted their parents played favorites, that they always took Glenn’s side. Now, the entire Robinson estate belonged to his younger brother.
“I’m the oldest. The inheritance should have been mine. But they picked you for everything. Now the family’s all yours, and I’ve never tried to take it from you. I come back and ask for one thing—just one—and you say no?”
Mr. Robinson had had enough. There was no point pretending anymore. The distance between them had lasted for years. Maybe it was time to finally lay things out.
“After all this time, do you really not understand why Mom and Dad asked me to take over?”
Damien froze, his face tense.
Mr. Robinson went on, “Our family’s been in the military for generations. You couldn’t take it. You quit. They tried to help you find your way in business, but you spent your days chasing girls and ignoring your responsibilities.”
Damien’s expression grew even more sour.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
